Oh i use this yarn as border for baby ponchos! They’re absolutely adorable, I use them for scarves as well.
Edit: Thx for all the likes, i hope some of you give baby ponchos a try, they’re a great use of leftover yarn.

I'm seeing a lot of comments that haven't recommended this yet: when crocheting with cocoon/pompom yarn, you'll have a much easier time when overlapping it with another regular-sized yarn. For example, worsted acrylic can work well.

Personally, I prefer working with a thin acrylic as my double strand so that it's not super visible, but I also have a lot of experience feeling out my stitches-- those new to crochet or feeling out stitches might have an easier time with a medium sized yarn. This also works well when you work with chunky and fluffy yarns, or any kind of yarn where it's difficult to see defined stitches. If you're ever having a difficult time seeing your stitches when crocheting with a new novelty yarn, then try to double strand it with a regular yarn.

Sometimes it takes a lot of experimenting to find something that works well for you, so don't be afraid to try lots of different methods.

I had to switch to knitting for this. Just ten stitches....long crocheted them together to make a HUGE, cozy blanket~

i saw someone on tiktok crochet an entire blanket with this using a white yarn WHILE they crocheted the pompom yarn kind of like feeding it so one yarn fills the space of the pompom spaces? idk. but it worked and one side is pretty pom poms and the other is flat.

Don’t know if this will help but I love using that yarn for knitting. It makes the cutest and softest scarves. It is also a lot easier because you don’t have to search for your stitches. I am very impressed that you were able to crochet with that though.

So I don’t crochet but my granny does and she made a big blanket out of this yarn, or something similar, and this video just gave me an idea of how long it took her to male it❤

This is called pom pom yarn sometimes too. I've only seen it used with other yarns, tapestry crochet style. You crochet over the string part with the other yarn, and leave the pom poms out for texture.

That would br a really cute bag in that size!! Also, you could use an acrylic yarn as a double strand so that you can see the stitches a bit better! 😊

I crocheted an octopus out of fairy lights. Let's just say the wire has a way of cutting into skin, and I had to wash blood off of the final result. Final result did successfully glow though
