Runescape can hardly be described as free to play. It's basically a free trial on the first chapter of a book that has 250 chapters If you play without a subscription.

15:04 I really wonder how I managed to do it, but I have 1, 822.2 hours in SWTOR even if I only had a 1 month gifted subscription to it and else played as f2p. There's honestly a bunch to do as a f2p with all the classes and expansions.. If they updated all of the graphics and added better character creation faces and options, I would possibly still play it.. Unfortunately most of the real juicy group content and lategame gear is behind paywall and also u need to at least 1 month subscribe to get all the current story expansions forever unlocked, so actually most of the newest content is behind paywall. Also u arent able to trade all the expensive stuff in the trade market cause u cant carry as much currency with you as f2p. I mean there's a reason I left this game, but I still had a good time with it..

Path of Exile isnt as microtransaction-free as you make it out to be, it's not just cosmetics but also some things that you really need to have a decent experience long-term. By your wording, it sounds like everyone is on a level playing field on PoE regardless of if they've spent any money. However, you'll end up needing to buy stash size upgrades if you want to use the market or get very far in the game comfortably.
