Yea, this is me. I have an absolutely horrible anxiety disorder, yet whenever I say anything about it, my friends go "Oh yea, same." It makes me feel horrible.

I'm so tired of people saying "there is nothing to be anxious about!" yeah I know that but my anxiety doesn't!

I feel bad for pointing this out, but it needs to be said; you can feel anxious without having an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorder is when your anxiety get so bad that, well, it becomes a disorder.

I'm going to show this to my mom because she knows I have anxiety but she thinks it's just being stressed out occasionally

I can definitely relate to this👍Often when I have anxiety I'll be told things like "Can't you deal with a little bit of stress", "I've been stressed before and it's not the end of the world", or "just grow up and accept that life isn't fair". However when they hear a detailed description of what anxiety is like, many are shocked and can't understand how we can live this way. Yet many of us take specific medications and/or use mindful exercises to control our anxiety. It will of course still be present, however they certainly aren't a waste of time😊

Oh good, now I can show my classmates how stupid they are when they say they have anxiety, THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO HAVE ANXIETY

these videos are amazing. They should've been made years ago. Let's do fears vs phobias. NOT THE SAME.

Ahh yes this perfect!! As a person who has struggled with generalized anxiety disorder, I can say this is super accurate and true.

I have horrible anxiety, I can't even answer the phone, open the door or even go out with friends cos I get way too stressed and I cry myself to sleep every night, because I overanalyse everything I did that day.

i dont know if its anxiety.
no one believes me, even my parents. they're like "It's like that for everyone"
i cant sit in one place at the same way for 10 seconds. when i sleep over at someone's home, i feel like all my movements anoyy him, and it's a horrible feeling.
also. in class. if i pay attention. i have to make noise or well. play with something.
and if i dont then i just draw random things or make up games or find the square root of every number from 1-100
It's horrible, yeah, and i do take 4 hours (in bed) to finally fall asleep.
but i heard it encreases your creativity.
one of the most stupid things are how school treats students. like everybody can manage 9 hours of sitting in one place. be quiet. and listen.
There are students with ADHD, OCD, Anxiety. and more.
also, kids learn better in different ways. some seeing. some listening. some feeling.
something needs to change. but yeah. i understand you

Thank you so much for this! People take me mentioning I have anxiety and that I have troubles sleeping cause of it as something relatable and normal, and go "hah, same tho." Like it's some quirk.

Having an anxiety or panic disorder isn't the same as occasionally experiencing anxiety or panic attacks either. The basis for the diagnosis of a disorder is the inability to function normally for a period of over 3-6 months because of your anxiety or because of fear of panicking. For example, I had had issues with unreasonable anxiety and occasional panic attacks for about two years before I actually developed a disorder. A disorder completely disrupts your everyday life to a point you - depending on the individuals triggers - may not be able to use public transportation, talk to people, be in enclosed spaces, eat normally or even in severe cases leave your home at all.
Also panic attacks are nothing like "freaking out". It has multiple severe physical symptoms. People may pass out, start shaking uncontrollably, vomit or even experience heart arrhythmias. Some people start disassociate, may feel like they are watching their bodies from the outside, feel like everything slows down or speeds up insanely, objects and people visually growing bigger or smaller, some even lose part or full control over their body and feel they are unable to move. For most people, mental as well as physical symptoms get so bad to the point they full heartedly believe they are dying. Panic attacks usually last between 10 to 45 minutes but can recur up to 6 times in one sitting. It absolutely is one of the worst things a person can experience.
When a person has an untreated anxiety or panic disorder (not the same thing) their entire life starts to revolve around their anxiety/panic. There'll be significant behavioral changes over the course of at least a month in order to be diagnosed in which the patient tries to avoid any and all situations that they feel may provoke their symptoms. Not only do they experience anxiety or panic, they also constantly fear the next time they'll feel that way again and what they feel may happen if they do.

If you suspect you may have or are developing an anxiety or panic disorder, immediately get help. These disorders very often can deteriorate extremely quickly and once formed avoidetary habits are very difficult to break the worse they get. People with these disorders are at extremely high risk to develop agoraphobia (fear of leaving ones home) and a number of secondary mental illnesses, namely, but amongst others, major depression, schizophrenia, eating disorders, insomnia, substance abuse and of course additional phobias.
These conditions are no joke and need to be taken more serious by both the affected and the general society.
If you know your loved one has an anxiety or panic disorder, please ask how they want you to behave around them when they experience an episode without enabling them and try to get them help if they haven't already.

I hate when people make anxiety seem like no big deal. I have major social anxiety and I'm constantly shaking when I'm around people. I also have anxiety attacks when there are a lot of people around me, such as a school dance. People tell me "Calm down, they're just people. You have no need to be nervous." It's not something that I can just calm down about and cure on my own. I will always have it and people just need to accept the fact that my anxiety isn't just being "shy" or "nervous", it's a serious thing that doesn't just go away when I'm told to calm down.

Thank you so much for making these videos so people can have a better understanding of mental illnesses. I’m tired of people saying, “oh it’s ok! you’ll be fine just don’t think about it.”

I absolutely love these, it educates people on the differences so they can support and say the right things and help people understand more clearly what they're feeling is.

When I opened up with anxiety my friends said that I don’t actually have it. Well then how come I have all the symptoms and my parents think I have it. ( My dads a psychologist and my mom is a mental health worker) My friends say that everyone has anxiety but what your experiencing is what every body does. So does every body feel sick, think about situations that result in death and freak out every time they see a bug. ( the last one is weird) But friends don’t think I have it because one YouTuber described their anxiety and now they think that is how every person with an anxiety disorder feels. Well the truth is... your wrong, anxiety is different for everyone.

Thanks for this video. My best friend came to me thinking she had an anxiety disorder. She came to me because I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and trusted me to help her. She sees a therapist now as well, but only once a month and the therapist said it was just stress so she sees her to talk about stress. I see my therapist once a week and have anxiety attacks on the daily. My friend says she has them too I ask her to explain and she says that “I just get all shaky and nervous” for me I literally exit the classroom and cry. I’ve had this since preschool. I’m now 13. It’s taken over my life, but it had gotten better. Therapy works. Just thank you for helping me show my friend the difference and showing me the difference as well. (Oh and another thing. I sleep 4-2 hours every night, and she’ll be like “I’m so tired I get like 6 hours” and I’m like “cool I slept well, 5 hours tonight” and she’s like “well that’s because you’re *insert my name here* you never sleep” and it kinda annoys me)
