I just heard this song for the first time in decades!  Actually, I only heard it one time before, probably on late night AM radio. Although it never became a big hit, it's one of those songs I never forgot about. Technology never ceases to amaze...

The songwriter was one Wayne C Thompson, alias Wayne Carson, who first cut this on 11/30/67 on MGM 13838. It was picked up first by the Geezinslaw Brothers on Capitol P-2086 (who recorded it as "I Couldn't Spell Yuuk"), then by Sam The Sham on MGM 13972 in July of '68.

FINALLY found this song, nearly 30 years after it was a staple on the Dr. Demento show! I never did know the name of the performer. In fact, for some reason, I always assumed it was the Mothers ca. "Ruben & The Jets". Anyhow, thanks for posting this long sought after gem!
