I love the slashed Ø. It is such a distinct letter for me given how my first language is Spanish.

I'm a native English speaker, but something close to this sound was always a part of my accent growing up. I've been trying to find a way to represent in writing accurately how it sounds, and so far this is the closest I can find.

I like saying “I want to go raiding.” in this guy’s accent. Whenever I play Valhalla, I say this line. I also love Netflix’s “Norsemen”. Love English spoken with this accent.

Thanks for the help with Ø!

Thankfully I had to learn German in school, and this video was a nice help. Thank you!

I stumbled upon this video while searching for how my name is pronounced with its original spelling, Sørensen. The Americanized version that immigration gave my great-great-grandfather is pronounced kind of like sore-in-sun. Now I’ve gone and confused myself trying to pronounce it with the “ø” sound. Uff da! 🤦‍♀️ Great video, though! 👍

One of the first letters I was fascinated with when I visited Norway and learned to say from locals. Now that we have Martin Ødegaard in Arsenal, I can pronounce his name appropriately.

It strongly exists in English, especially in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It is a northern inflection on the standard O. So it could not be simpler, if you are from cities like Hull or York.

Thank you! This is awesome. I have a frost giant in my D&D campaign named, Pøg. I wanted to know how to pronounce, so I don't butcher the language (alphabet).

I just realized I heard this sound all the time as a little kid. My grandfather was a rancher in Mojave county Arizona. When visiting the ranch as little kids, we used to imitate his cattle lowing. His cattle didn't say "Moo" like in the cartoons, they sounded like this! He had Hereford cattle, raised in AZ that lowed with a Norwegian accent. Go figure!!!
