How To Build A Perfect Surface Inlet In Your Yard Without A Catch Basin? | DIY with Dr Drainz

Welcome back, thanks for stopping by our Drainz Beat Laboratory!

I am going to show you Yard Drain DIYers how to build a proper surface inlet for your yard and not have to use a catch basin. You can use a catch basin if you want but it adds more expense to the project, but if you have the perfect grad in your yard, that water is going to wash away and you won't have to go back and clean out that basin.

We are going to use:
-6oz fabric (don't use Lowes or Home Depot): Non-woven, geosynthetic you can use a 4, 6 or 8 oz
-Surface cap from NDS
-Biodegradable Rubberbands

Try to stay away from our Appalachian Friends Bubba & Cledis when installing French Drains or Yard Drains in your North Carolina Home. We hope to help you DIYers out there with some tips, but we are always here to help if we can!

Love your videos they have helped me figure out some issues I've had to deal with. I have a question though. I recently worked on a property where the back yard was very mushy, water-soaked. So I started digging to install a French drain And found a catch basin attached to a six inch pipe which ran to a storm drain. The basin was buried about 10 inches down completely covered and the pipe I had to clear of mud and clay for ot to drain. I also raised the catch basin to proper level so it will catch the ground water. My question ❓ This is a relatively new development with many homes that look like they may have been done the same way. Catch basins buried in a clay base. I have never heard of this kind of drainage plan. Have you? Thanks !Sonny
