Learn how to find the distance between 2 ships using the angle of depression. had a question that had me absolutely lost for a little bit but eventually I got it.
A plane is at an altitude of 400m, the pilot looks down at a landmark at an angle of depression of 1.5 degrees, two minutes later, the angle of depression was 5 degrees.
The question asked to find the speed of the plane in km/h. To me that sounded like a "there were 4 boys and 6 apples, how many seals were at the zoo" type of impossible question.
For a solid 5 minutes I stared at the question thinking "what the actual f*ck am I meant to do" and then it clicked lol. It's 321.1km/h I believe

I was wondering if you could help with some math homework.
Q: A lifeguard spots a swimmer in the lake at an angle of depression of 45°. He spots a sailboat, further out, at an angle of depression of 26°. If the lifeguard is 36.5 dm away from the swimmer and 84.7 dm away from the sailboat, how far is the swimmer from the sailboat?

The difference between your question and mine is I don't know the height of where the lifeguard is sitting. Would I instead use cosine to find x?
