Even though I'm a very senior citizen, I hope to buy a small house next spring so I can turn my backyard into a garden and have a separate room in which to store all my preps and self-defense items. My goal is to be off the electrical grid, even though my house will probably be on the grid. I will always have to work and I need computer and Internet to do that, so a way to power my computers and a star link system if I'm lucky enough to be outside the city would take care of that problem.

Practical and common sense advice, if only common sense were more common nowadays, thanks for caring Mr. Salyer and for your sincere efforts on others' behalves.

01:26 A potato grow bag will produce potatoes literally anywhere. You just need a solid bag (perforate the bottom so that the water can pour out of it), enough potatoes to cover the bottom of the bag, potting soil, water and sunlight. Cover the potatoes with soil, water them and wait for the potato plants to start growing. Keep covering the plants with soil until they grow out of the bag and water them until they die off and drie out. If you remove the dead plants you can store the potatoes for some time in the soil, according to my experience, or harvest them right away. It works with every store bought potato, although organic ones are recommended as they're not treated for anti-sprouting.

You said prep for the obvious, and more likely events. (Something like that) I have coworkers who aren't even ready to change a flat tire. They have no spare, couldn’t change one if they knew how, which they don't. Other coworkers who can't jump a car. They are afraid of getting killed. Scary part is that these are the adults who run this place now. Coworker got a flat tire and called out 2 days. I feel like a genius, I taught my kids to parallel park. And they know cursive writing.

Dude dying laughing on the roaster and chopping his head off while the other one watches. Everything you said Jason was spot on and something I try to do everyday. The only problem most people in this country don’t care or either don’t wanted. Satan has distracted most people to see what’s important in life and what they really need to thrive. God bless y’all and well done!!!👍🏼🍻👊🏼💯❤️🙏🏼🇺🇸

Jason, I recently retired/sold our business and have been working around the house this year. I would buy the tool I needed and save money as well. Just YouTube something or ask someone and it’s that simple. Repaired and sealed my driveway, trimmed trees and bushes. Repaired the shed, dryer … It feels good, you expand your tool box and save money, it’s great. You’re a great role model, keep it up

Aloe vera, comfrey and prunella are three things you can grow on your balcony easily (might have to move them in for the winter) that can keep you from needing a doctor in many different ways. Many culinary herbs for flavor in the rice and beans are the same 🍀

Great approach. So many are overwhelmed and don’t realize everyone starts out small.

I sincerely value your how you provide a “common sense approach”, to inspiring people in preparedness. Common sense nowadays is a “superpower” because it seems sorely lacking. Jason, you're gifted in motivating people to get started & focus on needs instead of wants to sustain life 1st then add other stuff later. Thanks👌❤️🙏 Bless you

You are correct that pre-packaged freeze dried foods are expensive. However, what I have done for quite a while now, is I buy one Mountain House (or competitor) entree, breakfast, or dessert a week, and put them back. I have quite an array of meals now, after a couple years of this. And they're actually not bad at all. I try one once in a while to see if I'd actually like it in an SHTF event. If you spread out the cost, it becomes a whole lot more manageable. Mountain House does a great job with their packaging as well.

I understand you get what you pay for.. BUT it's possible to buy awesome quality cheap..
1. Yard sales and thrift stores
2. Military surplus
3. Mora knives (I have a mora that's extremely well used and it's over 30 years old, and still in "pass it to my grandchildren" shape)

Living in that tiny city apartment I must say: You're in most vunerable situation, yet prepping is the hardest. Just not living in the city, just owning a house solves majoirty of your problems

I have adopted a Policy of walking to and from work whenever feasible. That entails 4 to 5 days a week. It's an investment in my fitness because there are Big hills, especially on the way home. it also saves me money on gas and repairs on my car. Additional benefits That it allows my neighbors to see and get to know me plus Exploring the neighborhoods between home And work Allows me to plan multiple routes through town the P.A.C.E acronym

I lived in a 256 square. Ft. Apartment and I had 30 days food and water stored in there using my imagination and organizing well. I expanded out after that into a storage unit within walking distance. I did all this on a fixed income

If you are uncertain of what is mostly to happen there are problems common to many different disasters. Loss of water, and electricity are common. The access to food and medical. If you focus there on small time frames then expand it will help keep one from being overwhelmed.

Great video Jason I used to do similar things long before I fell down that Preppers rabbit hole of sourcing materials on the cheap from either home or op shops or disposal stores as a teenager and did not have a job to buy good gear. Now I have lots of stuff I worked hard for and in some circumstances an overabundance of stuff lol I should gift some gear to family and friends. For those that are new and you cant afford top quality gear go to your local ex army disposal stores or you can buy like cheap plastic raincoats from 2 dollar shops and other small items. When it comes to a solid knife get a full tang knife either made from high carbon steel or stainless steel and learn how to sharpen it with a stone and a leather strop save up for these items you don't need a Rambo knife that is over kill something from 6 to 9 inches in total length and 3 to 5 mm thick. Have fun & stay safe.
