Lee Anderson has 'made a mistake', says James Cleverly

Home secretary James Cleverly has said that Lee Anderson has made a ‘real mistake’ in defecting to Reform as the party will ‘only let in a Labour government’ at the general election to be held later this year.

The MP for Ashfield in Nottinghamshire was kicked out of the Conservatives last month in an Islamophobia row.

Mr Cleverly was speaking at the Global Fraud Summit at London’s Guildhall and said cracking down on international scam call centres is one of the Government’s key targets.

I cannot believe that the only reason to vote for a political party is to stop the other getting elected. Surely we should be voting for a party because we believe them to be the best on its policies
