More than 50,000 nurses are walking out of hospitals across NSW today despite the Industrial Relations Commission ruling the action illegal over concerns about patient safety.

A large group has amassed outside Premier Chris Minns' electoral office in Sydney which is expected to last an hour and a half.

Rallies are scheduled across NSW to last 12 and a half hours in 16 separate rallies in locations including Coffs Harbour, Gosford and Albury.

The main demand from NSW nurses is a 15 per cent pay rise over one year.

In response, the government has offered a 10.5 per cent rise over three years.

My brother works at Coles and does night fill and gets paid the same as me, an Enrolled Nurse Year 5 who saves lives. It's complete bullshit. People are leaving the profession because of the shit pay and that leaves us with no staff making the workload even worse. I'm not in the profession for the money, otherwise I'd be working at Coles. We've had enough!

Benalla has a new police station. It does not have a new tertiary college. What are we anticipating?
If you were commencing university today, what would you study?

should have gotten 200% increase. 15% is too little we cant even get an increase in our salary in our own jobs let alone have union to fight for salary increases

Please get facts straight.
1. Nurses got a 3 percent pay rise last year. This is well below inflation.
2. This was the first pay rise in years and years as the nsw government put a pay rise cap on nurses many years ago.
3. Nurses who didnt get their vaccine were fired.
4. Nursing requires a uni degree, you must be of resonable sound intelligence to pass as it requires practical theoritical etc
5. Shift work is where money is made without shift work nurses are on basic wage.
6. Nsw gave paramedics and teachers a massive pay rise this year.
7. Nurses in other states are paid up to 20 percent more. Why ? Nsw is the most expensive place to live.
8. You can earn more as a bus driver.
9. Nurses arent greedy they just cant afford sydney and nsw this is why they are all leaving to other states
10. Comments about tik tox and weight are unhelpful. The stress and emotional toll of what nurses see and hear and do is so awful.

Spend a day in the nurses
