Aircraft that small almost never have terrain warning systems....

A military aircraft that small might.
But probably not.

Lets try to make an issue of standard practices in aviation.

The terrain warning system adds weight and complexity and cost.
The smaller the aircraft the less weight it can afford.

Why do we have technology if we aren't going to use it?

It was also missing a pilot who put safety as a priority.

I just wanna say that even tho Kobi is a celebrity it's not like the other victims of the crash matter less they're still people don't forget all life matters no matter who they are

Every time I hear that bell ring for each person, I can’t breathe. It hurts too much to think about...

I really think it would be nice if News Outlets would let families grieve without so many "developments".

they didn't need terrain following, they were under special vfr rules which state they should have seen the ground under 10, 000 feet. the pilot was also given the ceiling at the time of last transmission to the tower. if they couldn't see the ground then why did they continue?

They should look at video surveillance cameras of who was preparing the helicopter the night before i smell foul play.

i’m not sure if it would have mattered if it did have it installed on board... from my understanding it was a stall

One thing got my attn. ; in a news report this morning they said radar showed that just before it went down the chopper lost @ 300 ft. altitude within a very short time and banked sharply to the left. I wonder if something happened to the pilot ( heart attack etc.or was there mech. failure.

The pilot was under pressure to get them to the game is clear or he would not be flying in those dangerous conditions.

Flying with so much fog was sheer insanity. The pilot should have refused to do so. I'm sure he got tons of pressure to go ahead with the flight from all onboard since the three girls all were supposed to play in a game that night but this is what comes from foolishly thinking you can outsmart Mother Nature.

And I'm getting just a little bit tired of all this Kobe as saint stuff too. He was human, made plenty of mistakes and everyone's just choosing to slam him up on an altar. I feel for the three girls and their parents but I blame them all too for choosing to fly on a night when all other aircraft had been grounded due to the weather. No one's life is worth risking just for a stupid basketball game.

This should be a lesson to us all but it won't be. All anyone will do is mourn Kobe and sing his praises while wealthy celebrities continue to do stupid foolish things simply because they can. At least the crash didn't take any lives on the ground. That's about the only positive thing I can say about all this. Let's move on now, shall we?

A terrain warning system would be a major nuisance. Helicopters fly low and are constantly near terrain, last thing you'd want is 'ol Betty yelling at you the entire time.

Responsible journalism would be to interview an aviation expert, reporting the facts in this manner is misleading.

That's a S-76 I find that hard to believe no black box or terrain warning system. That's a luxury helicopter

How about the other peoples helicopter? Why is everything about Kobe? Other people died as well.
