The tripod is one of the most important tools in landscape photography. Although I'm happy with my one, I tried out a tripod from the mountain series of Kingjoy and give a conclusion of quality and usability in this video.

Ich feiere mal wieder deine Fotos, Christian. Der erstarrte See, die verschwommene Spiegelung der Berge darin und der tolle Himmel dazu - mega!!! Genieße dein Wochenende und liebe Grüße aus München. :)

I have the Kingjoy C85 tripod. It is heavier than the C83 and weighs only 2KG and comes with the levelling base. It is so sturdy and is light enough to carry up hills etc., The quality is outstanding and it’s an absolute beast, I have to say I’m over the moon with it

Still snow, its +4C where I live and there is no snow. I don't plan anything just glad to come out in the woods. The time is the important parameter, if I have time, I go to a national Park, if not I just go out in the local woods. I need old trees and bad weather. But you can focus on details if the light is hard. I usually is out at the evening. I hate the middle of the day and I’m too lazy to get out early but I can do that if I have to do it to catch a picture. I remove my Centre column on my small tripod, I rebuild it with an aluminium top. On my Large Tripod I still have it.

Thanks for sharing the review of the tripod Christen. It looks really good. I only use the centre if I have to and have no alternative. But my shots normally turn out ok using the centre column. I liked the delicate light in that last photo from the location. Have a great weekend buddy, cheers 🍻 👍🙏

Nice video Christian!
Speaking about the tripod... Which one performs better and in which aspect: The Rollei Lion Rock or this new Kingjoy? Thanks so much in advance 👍

When I'm out shooting in the landscape, I use the centre column when I need extra height but I would most times rather shoot without it for stability.

When shooting at home at my desk, uhm, "studio", I use the centre column to fine-tune my setup and composition, when extending the legs is either too much work or impacting my exact positioning too much. But here I feel the instability of a centre column even more than in the landscape! Especially when shooting a series of macro shots!

What I'm looking for in a new tripod is:
- Weather proofing so it can stand getting wet
- Light weight for hiking
- Stable
- Tall enough
- Small for hiking

I don't need a bullhead because I have my own head already but if a levelling base is built in into the tripod that would be a bonus... 🙂

Altogether it sounds like I have some contradictory requirements for a new tripod! 😅

the centre column design is a copy of the old Giottos Y system from about 10 years ago

Das Gebiet ist aber wirklich sehr schön. Dein altes Stativ ist ja größer, nicht wahr? Scheint mir das neue ist ein "Travel Tripod".

I have no center column, no ball head, but a fluid head

I have to say that I enjoy my platyball "ball head". It is the reverse of normal ballheads and can be tightened and loosened with one hand.
