For those who don't know a security clearence doesn't mean you have access to any information that corresponds with your clearence, it only means we have vetted that you can be trusted with up to a certain level, everything still requires a need to know basis for classified material. Also clearences don't last forever even if you remain in the job that required it and if you aren't working a job or in the process of getting a job that requires a clearence they will not renew your clearence. Also it's not that hard to get a clearence if you have no serious criminal offenses.

Source: I have a security clearence, most but not all military members do, when I was joining the military I just had to provide my personal information and every address I had lived in the last 7 years with non family references that could confirm I lived at those places.
