Not "what we are *watching*" but what we are *hearing*. Gravity waves are push-pull just like sounds in a medium. In fact the frequencies detected are also in the ranges of frequency we can hear directly with no frequency shift required. Ligo is just a big set of headphones. What other amazing things might we be hearing very soon? When the French/Italian machine comes on line too we should be able to put on our head sets and hear gravity waves going past in surround sound by combining signals in multiple audio channels.
Now we know gravity waves propagate across the universe we will need a new word for the fastest speed in the universe, "the speed of light", because we now know it is not only light that propagates at that speed. Do gravity waves also exhibit other functions similar to light such as doppler frequency shift? What might this tell us about things like inflation? So many exciting questions we might be able to answer!

I'm not sure Brian explained the black hole question from Twitter very well? Maybe he didn't understand it properly as the person's idea of a black hole is a misconception? I think a lot of people feel that a black hole is actually a 'hole' when (correct me if I'm wrong) a black hole is actually a large physical ball with gravity so strong that light cannot even escape it, so to the eye it appears to be a hole in space when actually it's a large black sphere. So what we have observed here is 2 huge spheres 30+ times the size of our sun colliding in space billions of years ago...

*Dishonesty in science* (There is no such photograph or picture).
The claim is that they have detected (signal) data which has been interpreted as a collision of two Black holes, *To say this is a picture or a photo would be false.* Listen to what Cox is saying “is Data (signal) should look like”. The host of the talk show asked the question “so, we seen a photo essentially two black holes bumping against each other, is that right? Cox goes into a rant, and never answers the question! The reality is Cox is misleading the public, this so called Photo is actually not a photograph. The truth is as follows; *Professor Susan Scott, who is Leader of the Group at ANU, said the team discovered the four collisions by re-analysing data from Advanced LIGO's first two observing runs.* Calling this a photo or a picture is extremely dishonest.
