Forgive me Dr Maruki... a reality where Mr Ushimaru doesn’t throw chalk at me is one I cannot accept.

What makes this even more Sad is that Akechi kept fighting even tho he knew what was gonna happen to him

RIP Billy Kametz. May you find a better world after this. (voice of Maruki)

This song is absolutely fantastic. Unlike something like Rivers In The Desert or Life Will Change, it doesn’t appear openly hopeful and optimistic. The way it’s written feels as if this is not a happy fight. You’re not fighting against a big bad god. You’re fighting against a human who’s gone through tragedy and wants to improve peoples’ lives. The more minor chords reflect that feeling of uncertainty that the thieves may harbor that maybe Maruki is right. It reflects the brutal reality of fighting instead of an purely optimistic view of rebellion the Rivers In The Desert displays.

I love how maruki is this chill character the entire game, up to even the day before you fight him. And then this starts playing and you can see how serious he truly is about his salvation

Quick note.

The true final boss of Royal as far as I recall is the only major boss that doesn't have Blood of Villain play before the battle with them.

This is probably my favorite last boss theme in any game. It's been stuck in my head since I beat Royal last month.

It is crazy how I feel in love with the character and laughed my ass off whenever he said "I have snacks" and then I had to fight him I felt so bad and cried and on top of that Akechi was going to die it was like wow i was never expecting this. Then he kept on trying to fight us and I was like Please stop it was so sad but such a good ending.

During this fight, I knew what the result would be for winning, and I asked Kotaro and the little girl to forgive me.

The theme of one who cannot accept other’s pain, other’s hardships, other’s *realities.*

I liked that after the fight, it was revealed that Maruki stayed true to one of the exam questions in his Palace. He gave up the harder dream and went for an easier one (taxi driver).

Fighting this battle with this music was not easy.

List of all of the things The Phantom Thiefs had to throw away when they decided to fight Maruki

Ryuji throwed away his chance of getting his Leg completely repaired and returning to his team along with his old friends

Ann throwed away a completely undamaged Shiho, disposed of all of the trauma and physical damage she had, who I remind you, was the first person to really care for her.

Yusuke Throwed away his old Master Madarame completely, he was the one who guided Yusuke’s Pincel, and Yusuke could have never probably gotten here without his teaching Abilities.

Makoto throwed away her own father, who we know from her Social Links, was unjustly murdered and together with Sae, they had to move forward in a very traumatic path to get here.

Futaba throwed away her mother, who now she remembers to really care for her well-being every instance she could, but was also murdered (Orders of Shido and maybe Akechi himself) ruthlessly

Haru throwed away her father, who was murdered very recently compared to the other 2 and now has a billionaire company to run, without the support or guidance of her father.
(¿Do you see a pattern?)

Morgana throwed away an opportunity to make himself Human, the one who he always view he SHOULD have been and stop feeling so different from anyone in the group

Sumire throwed away her opportunity of becoming Kasumi and make herself believe that Sumire was the one who should and did Die that day, instead of just accepting what happened and moving forward with her life as Sumire.

Joker And Akechi were the ones who started the rebellion against this distorted reality, In Jokers case, what he COULD have throwed away in this reality it’s his journey itself, everything was done thanks to the hardships he and his teammates went through, if he were to accept Maruki’s reality, then all of that Journey would have been meaningless since at the end, things would have turned out fine and even better without his intervention.

And Akechi… throwed himself.
Akechi is seemed to be a rebel just like Joker, and similarities between both are throwed constantly even In-Game, Akechi would have never desired a reality where he was ruled by another (possibly remembering how Shido used him)
And he didn’t like what sickening Utopia Maruki was trying to create at all, even if it meant for him to cease to exist.
When Maruki and him confront in the final battle, he just gets mad and insults him for being “almighty” who is different of the other members who respond sincerely, while he just insults and wants things like they used to be, he doesn’t have a place in here and he knows it, that’s why he is so sick of Maruki.
