Great, I'm glad I found this. MSFS had mysteriously uninstalled. Just one improvement to these instructions, you do not need to copy the OneStore folder... it takes ages. Just rename it. Rename it back and you're good.

This really seems to have solved my problem. All of a sudden, I kept getting and I didn't have much of addons installed. The CTD would happen before the main menu, and after selecting someting in the main menu. No pattern was clear. I was using the PMDG 737-700 addon, and I was thinking this was the issue. MSFS v1.32.7.
Followed the OP's instructions and it seems to have fixed whatever was wrong. So; Cudos! :)

I had a problem where my sim would just be stuck on syncing data. I tried all kinds of things to sort it but nothing worked. I came to the conclusion that i had to uninstall and delete my sim. After reinstalling the sim of the store i found your video and it worked!!! You just saved me from nearly 2 days of Updates and installs with my network. Thanks so much! Cheers

Thanks a bunch. After having to reset my Xbox it caused an error at start up that kept sending me to the game services app in the MS Store. I tried Powershell commands, reset and repair of apps and I was about to do a complete reinstall when I stumble upon your video. In addition, to moving the data the official folder I also cut and pasted my community folder and voila I was back in business. Again thank you for saving me hours of time.

Why am I having to constantly copy, paste, reinstall and do all this other crap just to get this program to work? I spend more time troubleshooting this damn thing than I do using it!

So, I think you need to be careful with how you label this. I think calling it a reinstall is getting close to that line of not being the most truthful. I wouldn't call this a reinstall if im honest. This is a trick that could maybe be used to efficiently get the sim back up and running if you need to reinstall windows, format your sim drive, moving to a new computer, etc. I would still be skeptical of that because some files could get corrupted in the process or somethings may be dependent on being assigned to that specific location, computer, etc. I don't know if that matters for this sim in particular. But also a lot of times reinstalls are done as a troubleshooting method. Reinstalling for troubleshooting needs new files, copying and pasting the original files will not do any good for troubleshooting and will probably just wonder why it didn't solve their problem. Not trying to say its bad, cool trick, but just be careful I technically wouldn't call this a reinstall.

Why doesnt this sim have a repair tool for stuff like the game hanging infinity on game load screen?? This happened after a downloading update crash.

Pants. The main common reason for wanting to uninstall and reinstall is because some files have become corrupted. Guess what folder those corrupted files are most likely to be in? Yep.

I have attempted this. After pausing the install and exiting MSFS, I copied the directory back. I got a message that the file/path name was too long. That has resulted in some files not to be copied back, resulting in an incomplete installation. I started MSFS afterwards and it did not continue the install. I am on update 10, release sept 2022. To be sure, I re-installed MSFS from scratch.
Despite that, it's worth a try.
