My personal experience with the 250ohm beyerdynamic dt770 pro with a focusrite 2i2 lacks just barely on the volume if you’re a music producer. I got the 250ohm since it’s supposed to have the flattest sound for mixing. It still works really well without it don’t get me wrong but personally I like it a little louder. Just depends on your usage and taste.

I just got the 250 ohm DT 990 and am using it with a 3rd gen 2i2. I use this for recording my own music. I think the volume is marginally adequate, but I found myself wanting a little more so I did get a headphone amp. The 80 ohm version might have been the better choice but this won't be my only use for the headphones so I'm happy with the choice.

Apart from the volume being different, when you say "For mixing and mastering" what makes the amped option better? Is it the fact that you can make them louder or are there actual details that are missing without the amp?

Hey mate. I have those exact headphones and a Scarlett 4i4. Could you recommend a decent headphone amp and also, would adding an amp to the set up cause latency issues? Thanks man.

You've not really discussed when your recording music, singing etc. Are you saying that you would find that would be Option 3, you feel you lack volume and would prefer something with more power. I record songs so surely I only need to be able to hear playback, or sometimes live for harmonies. For harmonies if it's too quiet, then would you suggest the 80 Ohms? Thanks.

I bought them after i watched this video. Thank you, there isn't general information about if they will work properly on 2i2, and yes, they work just fine :D
Can confirm, for mixing, 80% on the interface, has enough headroom, and its loud enough. If you want to listen to it crazy loud, you will need a preamp, but for mixing purposes they are totally fine.

so if i have a audio technica at2020 i could use that with this amp and use the amp to power the headphones as well? or only one at a time.

What type of XLR cable would you recommend for Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen, RØDE PodMic, and Beyerdynamic DT 700 PRO X ?
And what is the difference between balanced and unbalanced XLR cables?

Question, I have my microphone setup for communications on my computer, such as talking to my friends through discord. Is the headphone feed independent of the line input for the microphone? As in do you always have to listen to your own voice in the headphones or can you use them normally while on your computer while still using the microphone?
