Just six weeks from opening for the 2021 season the weather has dealt a massive blow to the Windwhistle Winter Sports Club and their beloved ski field Mt Olympus.

30th May 2021 saw the Lake Coleridge area receive just under 400mls of rain in just 24 hours, a once in a 100-year flood. Ironically, the same storm has gifted the field with amazing early coverage of snow. But just six weeks from opening this flood has caused massive damage to the access road, making it impassable in a number of places. The repairs are significant and not something Club members can carry out with volunteer labor alone.

The initial estimate is $30,000 to get the road usable for this season and another $20,000 to fix completely next summer. A repair bill of $50,000. The repairs are a race against time before the snow arrives. Coming off a no-snow season in 2020 with no field income this is a significant hit to the Clubs finances.

The Windwhistle Winter Sports Club has a can-do attitude and will move heaven and a considerable amount of earth to open for the 2021 season. But we need your help.

A number of members have already pledged a considerable amount of money which means we are able to send the heavy equipment in to start repairing the road.
