Thanks for the recommendation! I find it interesting when algebra books start with rings or fields instead of groups. In Hungerford's intro to abstract algebra book, he starts with rings before getting to groups and fields which i actually kind of liked because rings have lots of easy familiar examples like Z and Z/n.
