ROAD DRIVE: Is The £2.5m Aston Martin Valkyrie Too Extreme For The Road? | Top Gear

You’ve already seen the Valkyrie on track, but look, it has numberplates, this is a road legal machine. Remove the front plate and that’s where the first aid kit is tucked away. Ready distributed for you if you have a shunt. So what’s it like out there, amongst the Corollas and SUVs? In a world exclusive, Ollie Marriage spent the day driving Aston’s 1155bhp naturally aspirated V12 hypercar around the streets, drive throughs, cityscapes and oil fields of Bahrain, to see just how liveable the Valkyrie actually is. Oh, we should point out the 150mph standing start acceleration was done on track. Not in the centre of Manama. Obviously.

You could've put your bags in the passenger seat & floorboard. That's where I'm putting my groceries when my fantasy Valkyrie arrives.

This car is very practical. You can even use it as a camper by sleeping inside one of it's diffuser tunnels.

I love that we live in a time where they are bringing all the most extreme Hot Wheels cars from my childhood to fruition as real vehicles...

The acceleration from 100-220km is insane

Driving this on the road looks infinitely more terrifying than driving it on the track.

Its a design achievement that even with so little actual bodywork, it looks like a modern Aston.

Man that Valkyrie on the beach looks absolutely stunning. The photographer must've gotten some amazing shots. I think the idea of this car is an F1 car that you can drive legally on the road, and they have succeeded in that. It's not supposed to be luxurious, something what Aston Martin is known for otherwise.

6:56 We really need to hear the Valkyrie in the tunnel. Please TG, we need this.

That thing makes the 720 look like a Corolla. My favorite looking hypercar yet.

Yes. The Valkyrie is an amazing achievement and will most definitely sit alongside that of the F1, Veyron, and CLK as automotive legends. But, it’s so uncompromising, that it’s virtually compromised in every way. It’s compromised on the road, and it’s compromised on the track *because* it still needed to qualify as a kind of road car. So, while amazing and utterly bonkers, it sits in a weird no man’s land essentially. The AMR Pro, despite being track only, is the superior car to the street car in every way, outside of raw acceleration and top speed.

That doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t give everything for a chance to even be around a Valkyrie, though, let alone sit in or go for a ride in one. I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to be inside one, cruising for more than 20 minutes though lol.

there may be never another car like this. gotta appreciate what Aston has done. and i'm sure they lost money on every car they sold. it's just mind boggling enough to make... to make it pass road legal test is insane.

Dude went faster over the speed bumps than I do with my QP GTS.

I hope that all of the hype around Valkyrie will help turn Aston Martin around, on top the F1 kick off has helped even more.

Fair to say Aston Martin has changed a bit since the days of the 1990’s Virage and DB7…

I love how much road driving we see in this road test.

The beach part looked like a scene from Need for speed. Unreal.
