This was the first ever India vs Pakistan cricket match I ever saw. I still have fond memories of the 1996 world cup as my love for cricket started from there. I still remember watching this match at home on a Saturday evening and the atmosphere even back then was absolutely electric.

Waqar was lethal at that Era !!.... But the mistake he did... was that.. He tried to bowl faster and faster to Jadeja utilized the pace very well.... Same thing which Haris Rauf tried against Great Kohli at Melbourne during T20 WC 2022.... Sir Wasim Akram always remained more successful than Waqar... Just because Wasim Sir used his variations brilliantly rather than always trying to bowl fast....

This innings was a turning point in not only this match but in India-Pakistan cricket. Before this Pakistan used to win most of their matches against India but from this match onwards India played more competitive cricket against Pakistan and won many matches.

As an avid cricket fan for 32 years now, I can confirm that this match was the most electrifying match among all Indian matches in 1990s.

One can say that ‘Desert Storm’ was the best match but believe me this match united whole India and the country celebrated it like a festival. Jadeja fielded too like a tiger in second innings.

Those were the lovely playful evenings of 90s... I loved every bit of it, I remember a bit, I was 8 yrs then, playing cricket with my friends infront of quarter and came running to see Jadeja hitting... Jadeja, Sachin, Sidhu, Azhar were very popular at the time. I just loved Jadeja, was the best fielder in the team at that time.
