I play this every morning, just before I wake up.

What amazes me more is that he did this while his left leg ran a half marathon

This is the definition of : I paid for the whole guitar and I might as well use all of it.

I thought I'd never be able to play this song. 10 years later, I was right

So... I heard this on American dad, and I honestly thought it was cut together from random classical pieces for the show. Was not aware someone actually was capable of playing this. Mind sufficiently blown. Incredible!

He’s not playing the guitar. He’s telling it what the f**k to do and it’s listening.
The man is genius and he’s a great person. A winning combo!

When I was young I wanted to play the guitar so badly, after years and years of hard work and dedication I can play the guitar badly

While most guitar players tune their guitars to the standard E A D G B E, Tommy tunes his to W T F H O W.

I dedicated MONTHS to learning this song a few years ago. And while I technically could play it, I didn't understand what was going on musically. It was basically just a party trick. I had no way to translate the practice into anything else. I also realized I still didn't sound nearly as good as Mr. Emmanuel here because I lacked something crucial that I never considered. Dynamics. I was only focused on playing the right notes on time and never had any real feeling behind what I was playing. In short it just sounded boring. It's amazing how you can improve your own playing in ways you didn't expect just by hearing the greats play. I'll never be better than Tommy, but I can be better than I was last week.

I know it's a very challenging piece to learn but I have been practicing this every day for 2 years and I am 50% there. I am able to tap my left foot and I own a striped shirt.

After watching this, I was given inspiration. To sell my guitar.

Thoughts of a non-guitar player: "Damn, I should start playing guitar!"

Thoughts of a guitar player: "Damn, I should stop playing guitar!"

I thought I'd try to play this on guitar, but then I decided to try something easier like quantum physics

I was lucky enough to have a jam with him in the early 90's when I was a work experience kid at his manager's music shop in Melbourne. Just the two of us in a rehearsal room, with two cheap acoustic guitars. I'll never forget it. Such a nice guy, he spent over half an hour of his time teaching me a few riffs and showing just how beyond skilled he is. I performed "guitar boogie" in a school concert later that year and could actually say "Tommy taught me that bit". 😎
