La Brea Tar Pits Travel Guide

A travel guide for visiting the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles, California. The La Brea Tar Pits is a collection of tar pits and museum located near downtown LA. This is one of my favorite "off the beaten path" attractions in Los Angeles... it's neat, historic, and a natural wonder. How often do you get to see tar bubbling up from the ground anyway?

That looks really cool! I never knew that the tar pits existed. I'll have to check them out someday!

Interesting, I was binge watching LA videos & learned about the oil. I noticed the big location near downtown that has the oil rigs/pumps. I didn't know any of this. Well, except for the LaBrea Tar Pits.

Just a quick correction at 2:30 Those crates were not full of fossils from the tar pits. They contain the remains of a wholly mammoth that was found during the construction of a parking garage in LA. Instead of excavating the construction site. They bagged the fossils up in those crates to get them out of the way so not to prevent construction of the said garage. You are welcome.

I used to pump the oil/tar from the basement from one of the buildings about a block from the tar pits. It used to be called the CalFed Building when I was doing this. What a mess!

Wow! Who knew they had large metal buckets back in the Mastodon age.... bucket making sure hasn't come a long way based on those 1 million year old buckets!

It smells like asphalt because that is exactly what it is. It's rubble, rocks and tar all mashed together. I'm also here because of Death Stranding and because tar pits are just so damn interesting.

I wanna go here so bad. I live near Warm Springs Georgia which is a pretty cool thing to see too plus it's the home of the Little White House. 😁
