Ah! The ghosts of Christmas Past of Indie Games! When Santa delivered some of the best presents I ever received while the snowflakes fell outside, and mistletoe fell forlornly alongside the log-fire keeping the chill of the feast of St. Nicholas at bay!

My favourite RogueLITE = FTL and then sub-set games Enter The Breach. I like Spelunky and Rogue Legacy and Nuclear Throne a lot too. But FTL is my favourite of all.

For traditional RogueLIKES = Cogmind (2017 went full 1.0) and if you pick the green pill, I show you how deep the rabbit hole really goes in this matrix-esque aesthetic game really goes !! You could go for a lighter variant of Desktop Dungeons or Rift Wizard also.

Rogue Legacy was one of the first roguelikes I ever dove into, and ever since then roguelikes have become of my favorite genres. While I'm not keen on the current oversaturation of the genre, I still feel it has the potential for the most fun and creativity.

If you like enter the gungeon then Imo you would like binding of isaac. They are both very similar. Just have to get into the new item grind

Loved the list! I pretty much adored each game you mentioned as it released.
I was specially into *Binding of Isaac* since it came out, but ALWAYS hated having to go to the wiki to check what each new/old thing did. Without the *External Item Descriptions* mod I wouldn't have been able to fully unlock the fun aspect of it.

Nuclear Throne was the first top down shooter roguelike that I played and I still absolutely adore that masterpiece in every way. And last night, I just learned that an incredible human being created a mobile version as a passion project and it actually works as good as it possibly could.

These are all good games. I can’t remember when it came out but one of my personal favorites is Undermine. I think onlyDead Cells and Slay the Spire come close to the amount of hours I’ve sunk into it. It’s so good. Also am I the only one who still doesn’t understand the hype behind vampire survivor? I bought it, played it, liked it but it was nothing super special in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad game. I enjoyed it. I just don’t understand how it garnered so much acclaim that spawned so many clones.
