In this tutorial we have shown how to make fine selection in Affinity Photo and Photoshop. Selecting hair is a tough job without refine masking. Luckily both Affinity (Photo and Designer) and Adobe Photoshop comes with refine selection tool.

Affinity emerges as a true alternative to Adobe and getting popular ridiculously fast.

This looks like a very powerful alternative of Photoshop. And it doesn't cost a fortune. Will certainly try it out!

Very clear tutorial, as usual.
I have never used Phoroshop, but I know it.
From this tutorial it appears that they are at the same level, despite that PS is at least 20 years old.
AP looks for me a bit more handly.

Well now that adobe cc went up by 60% for alot of countries, people will be forced to look elsewhere

I want to try it out have used ps for a long long long time but just got a mac too so will be great to use both to learn a new program. I am sure Affinity will get better and better as time goes on and I see a lot of people are trying it out

doesn't seem like it is any better than PS. Also try with a more busy background. I can't imagine that it would take much longer!

Thanks - very nice tutorial! I'll definitely be looking into Affinity. I like the annotations and arrows etc in the video. Which screen recorder are you using to create these tutorials? Camtasia or something else?

Looks like Photoshop still did the better job - especially when it came down to the background in the finer areas. I'll stick to PS.

It took you over 15 mins to do it in Affinity whereas I'm PS it only took you about 5

That is really funny man ... you are doing same job by 3:1 ( 15 : 5 ) but Affinity is "much better". Please, I like Affinity, but here are people like "Photoshop is useless" ... but please, look again. It took him 15min in one and 5min in another (PS). In hours, you would do same work 3 work days or only 1 work day ... guess what your boss would rather hear?

Photoshop cost maybe more (like 140$ - I bought it again month ago), but in "speech of money" ... boss can have work done within month for 1600$ ( price for designer in my country ) or after 3 months for like 5400$ ... and here we are ...
