Ang una kong ratio ay 46:18. Akala ko masarap magbike pag mabagal yung cadence pero matulin yung andar kaya nag jump agad ako sa 54:14. After few months nagdecide ako bumalik ulit sa low gear pero this time 46:14 dahil sobrang hirap pigilan ng big gear lalo na pag traffic at ang pinaka pinagsisihan ko ay sumasakit yung tuhod ko tuwing bumababa ng hagdan. Walang serious injury naman pero ang laking epekto nun in terms of fatigue. Pero kahit naka 46t na ako mejo may kahirapan parin dahil sa 14t cogs. Siguro mahina ako physically compare sa ibang bikers. Kaya nagdecide ulit ako bumalik all the way to 46:17 ratio naman. Ang masasabi ko lang sobrang sarap na ulit mag bike at wala kang kailangan patunayan sa kalsada. Hindi mo kailangan mag mabilis pag nag rrides sa public road. Pero kung gusto mo talaga mag matulin dapat gawin lang yon sa track or pag may palaro. (crit, drag sprint, etc) Don ko lang massuggest na mag heavy gear sa mga karera. Pero kung nasa streets ka mag rrides, WAG. Alagaan nyo tuhod nyo guys. <3

nahahati ang riders classes tulad ng sprinters at climbers, punchers domestiques etc dahil sa cardiovascular levels nila na unique personally dahil may mga swerte sa genetics na matagal talaga mapagod sa pacing, selected as domestiques, at meron naman malakas ang power, burst kumbaga pero need agad mgrecover na nagiging sprinters kaya nga sa road cycling yung top riders inaalagaan ng teammates at halos hindi paghatakin para sa final sprint, at meron naman fast twitch at slow twitch muscles, whatever ang dominant sayo dun nasosort yung climbers at sprinters as burst riders, yung climbers malakas ang slow twitch muscles naturally, kapag natraining pa mas lalo at kaya durable sila at comfortable sa climbs dahil sa slow but heavy cadence since may resistance from the elevation, pero sa flats naman kung saan mas dominant ang sprinters, sa climbers opposite don naman halos di nila mahanap yung cadence nila dahil hindi dominant ang fast twitch muscles kung san comfortable ang sprinters, kaya personalized talaga rin ang ratio, i think kung igegeneralize dapat hindi sobrang bigat at sobrang gaan, like 48:17:)))

Usually people tell me to change my gearing of 48/17 to something heavier, which in my defense was a brainless suggestion because I'm well aware that I'm still a beginner. And no one should be dumb enough to immediately use heavy gearing if you think you''re not strong enough. You're not a velodrome athlete. Stop it.
