Elektra Natchios lived and died in Daredevil comics from the 80s. When Frank Miller killed her (a second time) she was intended to stay dead permanently. He even made a deal with people at Marvel that they would never bring Elektra back to life... but of course they did. But some people weren't too happy about this decision, and they tried to create a secret plot that Elektra really has been dead this whole time, but she was replaced by a shapeshifting Skrull this whole time! All this 8 years before Marvel's Secret Invasion event!

Tie-Ins are quick and snappy videos that take a look at some fun facts and concepts surrounding comics!

I love these stories when they sneak in a little something that theoretically retcons huge chunks of the lore.

Elektra was always confusing to me. I never saw what purpose she had outside of Daredevil, and thought that she should've stayed dead to have the lasting impact that her death was supposed to be.

I've got a question, how does Spider-Man's blood not rush to his head when he's upside down

If Eketra's dead, we may not have had Élodie Yung as the Elektra we always wanted..

I am always glad when ever things don't go Frank Miller's way.

I like that they didn't kept their promise, just because we got "Wolverine: Enemy of the State", and it was awesome

There's a lot of stuff that floats around about TMNT's semi-Daredevil-parody origins, but people never really mention The Tick had a similar beginning, jumping from making fun of Superman to Daredevil - specifically Elektra, in the character of Oedipus

I'm actually glad that Elektra was brought back she's good character with a good history and...I'm probably gonna sound like a perv for this but...that outfit man.

Glad she's alive because if not she would have only lived a year before dying and then reborn for a short amount of time before dying this would have made her an easily forgotten d list character

There is this quote that reads something along the lines of "Superman's death opened the door to inmortality for all comic's characters" or something like that. Sadly, i can't remember who said that.
The think is... death is just a plot point nowadays. It is not really important if a Character dies. The only think that matters is it's resurrection story.
We need more permanent deaths in comics. We need to care again for these characters' life.

I think Scott has established that other than Uncle Ben and The Waynes, (Not including Flash Point), no one stays dead. So why even try to keep someone dead. Some writer is always gonna come along and mess up your vision.

I like comics like the Ultimates and Injustice because death matters. I've only read like, ONE Ultimates book, but I've heard that everything mattered in it and nothing was retconned. Honestly, when comic book characters die I either know the status quo will return so I don't care, or it's such a small character they won't come back to life. In that case, I don't care either because it's such a small character.

I know of another way they could have both kept the promise and had elektra action figures:

Just say that the original is dead, and this new elektra is a clone with a perfect copy
of all the original's memories inside her head. You could even have daredevil discover this
by reluctantly digging up her grave and discovering the original body is still there,
then going out and finding the cloning machine inside a secret laboratory somewhere.

I also think this explanation could also be used for Bucky coming back as the winter soldier.

In my honest opinion there should definitely be a lot more death in Comics. It seems that no matter what all superheroes and almost all supervillians always stay alive, it kind of takes away from the suspense of the story when you know that none ones going to die. Elektra definitely should've stayed dead. There's plenty of other super heroes and villians that could have been killed in some way and stayed dead to make the story more suspenseful. The whole resurrecting thing in comics is always really cheesy and i wish they'd stop.

Her original death was epic. Bringing her back cheapened the best moment the character had.

Would've been better for there to be a reveal that she WAS just a Skrull in Secret Invasion. Maybe some interesting stories with Daredevil and what not could have been made afterwards.

Daredevil be like "WHAT? SHE STILL DEAD? YOU MEAN I MADE OUT WITH A SKRULL? NOOOO"

One of these days, a super-battle is going to be interrupted by both participants realizing the other is just a Skrull impersonator and complaining to HR.
