I call it "the wasp situation". You as a human are way above wasps in almost every department. Your intelligence, strength, resilience and weapon/technological advancement is universes above anything a wasp can even begin to comprehend. And still when you see a nest of them you soil your pants and keep your distance.

This reminds me of the story "Why humans avoid war", it's a sci-fi story about humanity joining a galactic federation as the ultimate pacifists, always solving everything with diplomacy first and foremost. Alien species mostly regard them as cowards, until an unstoppable hostile alien force comes around only for humanity to wipe out their entire fleet in seconds.
It only took humanity to invent universe-ending nanite bombs to figure out war wasn't worth it and chill out enough to do diplomacy instead.

Makes me wonder if we're actually the Sentinel Island of the universe and we've strayed all of the attempts of alien communication just because of the tendency to shoot something on something weird; thus the aliens just simply left us alone and enact a galactic-wide laws preventing any other galactic civilization from entering the solar system.
