My Cottage is TOO pink | Damned Designs S1 E2 FULL Episode

Produced by North One in 2015, Damned Designs follows homeowners who have built houses and property without planning permission. In each episode, we see the homeowners appeal to the Planning Inspectorate in the hope of saving their properties from demolition. A grade 2 listed cottage is painted bright pink without getting special permission. The king's head pub near Warrington rugby club was refurbished for 100K including a 60-meter conservatory extension but without planning permission. A bungalow extension also gets scrutinized as the build got out of hand and the renovation just got bigger and bigger which went against the initial plans they submitted to the council.

The building Eddy built is beautiful. What a great place to relax.

Re using solicitors. Bought a house from a neighbour that had added a clause that they could access our land to build footings for a new office building next door. Our solicitor didn't spot that it actually meant they could build their foundation on our land. So solicitors are not always diligent.

Love Eddy's retreat - he has put a lot of thought into everything. I hope his appeals are successful. The Doctor's house was hideous! The issue over the pink house was a bit silly - but I really like the softer ice cream colour pink.

The guy who had the house built way bigger than it should have been knew exactly what he was doing.
I work with architectural drawings all day, and buildings don't accidentally get built bigger than they should be because the builder made a mistake.
Even if the scale on the plans was wrong, the builders would have immediately noticed that the doorways were all wider then they should be etc.
Someone estimated that project and calculated all the quantities for the materials. It is impossible that it could have been built that way by accident with nobody noticing.

I do not believe these people who say they did not know. Everyone in the UK knows you need planning permission. What they are all thinking is - once it is built, it is built, and nobody will tell them to pull it down.

I used to have a pink stucco home that was absolutely beautiful. The house was still under construction, but the paint on the outside had already been done. I just loved it. I called it the John Mellencamp house. It sold very quickly and the new owners painted it an ugly tan. 😅

I’ve had bright coloured houses myself, but that bright pink is horrible and the paler one is a distinct improvement!

The Doctor is so bloody cheeky! It’s a monstrosity. There’s no doubt he knew. An illness doesn’t stop you from knowing what instructions to give builders

so, they are kicking a family out of mellowcroft farm, because it would change the land from agricultural to residential, even though the guy is planting more trees and living off the land ... for that, they put him through years of grief, drove his family away for a time, gave him false hope then took it away and left him in the dark. amazing, good job council. I knew his hope would be short lived. you can't take anything for granted with the council.

Eddie said it himself. He didn’t think he needed planning originally because the buildings were all temporary. If they are temporary they can be easily taken down. If he intended building permanent structures he should have bought land with planning permission or with an existing structure so that he stood a chance of getting planning permission.

As a German, I am always confused, how ridiculous thin walls are build in GB and in addition, wooden floor ceilings seem to be todays standard as well. I mean look at the demolition at 39:50 - it just collapsed after a gentle touch. Over here we build at least 24 cm up to 40 cm thick walls and every floor is covered with reinforced concrete.

There a more sheep in Wales than there are people. Even farmers can’t get planning on their own land to build a house for a family member. Yet big building companies build Wendy houses that are not fit for purpose the designs are ugly and the rooms are small.

I lived in a Grade 2 listed house and even had to apply for permission to prune trees and bushes as these were in a conservation zone.

Ah the pink! Do they know how it was made? The base was lime wash and to that was added brick dust. This could be of no particular shade as it would added on site by farmer or house occupier or owner and might be merely some bricks rubbed up on site or the contents from the local brickyard; most villages had one, either from finished brick stacks or shovelled off the bottom of the kiln but most bricks were fired in stacks. This could vary in colour as there would be burnt bricks which would darken the colour. If the colour is hugely at variance from what was there before there could be an argument but most Grade II buildings with painted facades have a coloured preference attached to them.

I’m all for the little man but that house at Lostock does look like a Quick Fit garage. I can’t believe an architect designed it.

Certainly no fan of local authorities and planning departments in particular make very suspicious decisions. But I suspect many of those in the video are not entirely innocent and knew they were stirring up a hornets nest when they went ahead with their projects. They took a chance and had to deal with the consequences.

This series should be renamed, "You will own nothing, and be happy"

The shed thing seems ludicrous, because it doesn't seem to actually be a permanent building, but a temporary structure.
