If they Have a longer version of the movie having Gorr killing gods it will deff make the movie so much better. I feel that's what it was missing cause it didn't capture how terrifying he is. It felt rushed.

I want Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston to play their respective roles in the MCU as long as they can. I feel like they were born to play these roles.

How to turn this movie from a 7 to a 10:

1) A more fleshed out backstory to Gorr. Needed more scenes with his family and daughter and how much they actually suffered yet stayed loyal to the gods the entire time.
2) Gorr actually battling and killing other Gods.
3) Showing the gods in a slightly more sympathetic light instead of drunken, horny, heathens. Maybe an explanation for why they refuse to interfere and why it's important that they have worshipers and followers. This would have raised the stakes immensely to this story because the whole time I couldn't care less if Gorr actually won or not.
4) One solid opening mission with the Guardians where we see how painfully out of place Thor is and how he is overstaying his welcome. That would have set up his arc nicely with needing to find his own family and purpose.
5) Valkyrie coming to grips with her past trauma and having an actual character arc. Same with Jane. Needed some flashbacks to Jane working hard and coming to grips with the fact that she physically doesn't have the energy to continue and seeking Mjolnir out of desperation- not just a flashpan idea.
6) Something, anything, hinting at Kang or a larger threat. These past couple Marvel movies have felt like a collection of stories instead of chapters in a saga.

The thing is all of these things could have been achieved with like 15 minutes of more screen time and nothing in the actual movie would have needed to change to accomodate them. The tone of the movie would have very different, but I would have preferred the contrast of this underlying dark tone to the whimsical adventure they go on instead of just 80's rock music and screaming goats for the whole run time
Sorry i turn my comment to an essay guys

My biggest critique is that the movie fell short in terms of story length and depth. As a result, Gorr felt a bit "meh" and didn't really come off quite as dangerous as he could have. Scenes of him killing off other Gods would have helped.

Two Easter eggs I really liked that you didn't mention: in Ragnarok Korg asks Thor if he rides Mjolnir when he says he uses it to fly; and also referring to Ragnarok, the scissor throne, asides from being a reference to GOT, is to when Korg, upon meeting Thor, says something like "you don't need to be afraid of me unless you're made of scissors! Just a little rock paper scissors joke"

When it was showing Thor's and Janes relationship past it showed the Thor told the hammer to protect her. It accepted the request by the glowing crest on the hammer. That's why she's able to use it

I know this was a silly MCU film but I was fully weeping during it because my mom died of cancer in 2010 and the whole storyline with Jane was like a punch to the gut. No one cares but I had to get this off my chest somehow.

Timeline sounds right. When Jane said "how long has it been" she said 3 years, and Thor corrected to 8 years (to account for the time lost in the snap)

There's a detail that some people may have missed. The reason why Jane was worthy is because Thor enchanted Mjolnir while they were still together with Jane, he told it to take care of her, this was shown during the flashback montage scene of their relationship, Mjolnir glowed the same way it did when Odin cast the enchantment in the first Thor movie

After watching this Thor film, I can genuinely say Ragnarok has been the best Thor film thus far. This one was surprisingly underwhelming. Shout out to Christian Bale who did one hell of a job as Gorr!

That was so great seeing Hercules. I've wanted to see that rivalry between him and Thor play out since the first Thor movie launched. On a different subject, I find it pretty ironic that Zeus now hates Thor so much even though he just saved every single god in the universe lol.

When she whispered to Thor at the end. That just seemes like a trop that happens all the time usually in finales where speculation can run wild. I like it. Its like their own little personal moment that they both share and we the audience get to experience the meaningfulness to Thor but not necessarily know what it was.

I almost NEVER sit through a 30 minute YouTube video, but anytime you drop a 20-30 minute video I watch the whole thing. I know pride can be seen as a negative trait or emotion, but PLEASE take pride in what you do. Seriously. You're a huge part in this corner of our multiverse that many many many people tune into for sci-fi/superhero news day by day.

19:50 You missed it. The reason Mjolnir responds to Jane is because Thor enchanted it telling it to always protect her. You see the triquetra form on the hammer as he whispers to it, like Odin did for him in Thor 1

I love how the world tree is symbolized when Thor gives his powers to the children taken from Asgard and who are all aliens of the universe.

There were I couple of other Easter eggs not mentioned. When Thor rode stormbreaker like a broom, it was referencing ragnorak when korg was asking him how he could fly with a hammer. The second is we see the Aztec God is sitting a row or two in front of Thor, we see the same headress in the Namor concept art.

My only issue I had with this film was how short it was, felt kinda rushed..
Like oh the guardians just leave right away lol, he meets Jane and he’s just Like “oh what are u doing here “ and she’s like oh I’ll explain later and barely does lol. Just kinda felt flat at times idk why they had to cut it down so much..

The recreation of Love (Gorr's daughter) and the fact that her reflection in the abstract plane shows a Love-shaped star field instead of the reflection of her physical appearance leads me to the following fan theory (based on appearances of Eternity in the comics):

Love is actually an aspect of Eternity with the memories and personality of Gorr's daughter. Eternity has done something similar in the comics in the past, creating or recreating people and embodying himself through them, to allow him to better understand the existences of the life forms that comprise his being (and thus to more fully know himself).

Eternity is very specifically not Death ("he" is Death's "brother", with Death and Infinity being his "sisters" and Oblivion his "brother" (using quotes because they're all beyond gender but tend to be perceived by humans as having those genders)). Eternity cannot raise the dead, he would have to ask Death to do that for him. He does, however, embody everyone who has ever lived and will ever live, so he has all their memories and knowledge. He also controls time, so he could have pulled her from a moment just before her death and healed her, but Gorr held her after she died and laid down next to her grave after he buried her, so there really wasn't an opportune moment to pull that move without altering the past.

So, what Gorr sees as his daughter, we see (in the reflection) as Eternity embodied in the life, memories, and personality of Gorr's daughter. Which very much figures in to the notion that while Eternity has no particular reason or obligation to grant anyone's wish, that doesn't mean it can't spark Eternity to have an idea to do something that benefits him and (in some sense) also grants the requested boon.

I don’t know if it’s just me but I was super excited for the next phase of marvel after Spider-Man No Way Home. But after the new Doctor Strange and Thor movies my excitement has decreased drastically. Nothing feels overly connected and both the movies just felt like set ups for something else. I just didn’t feel attached to the characters. The whole new phase of marvel just feels like a nothing burger. It could just be me not seeing the path and I am definitely open to being pleasantly surprised.

Edit: spelling

There's a shot right before Jane shows up at the end to help Thor when Gor is pushing the Necrosword into his chest that mirrors the scene from Endgame when Thanos is pushing Stormbreaker into Thors chest and is interrupted by Mjolnir hitting him out of nowhere, but this time instead of Thor's reaction being joyful that his friend was found worthy, he's saddened that Jane came anyway
