The European Space Agency contracted Clearspace to launch a debris removal mission in 2025. I think it was for a second stage of a rocket used by ESA. I think this will be the first mission related to the removal to space debris. Still a long way to go though! (Love the videos btw)

In 2022, about 2500 satellites were launched into space, meaning about 6-7 satellites were launched everyday. Making sure the debris is cleaned up is a great idea. Great video!

Defunct satellites will be relatively simple to de-orbit. It’s the countless tiny things we’ve littered orbit with that are the biggest problem.

I’m always reminded of the Sweepers Salvage team from Gundam Wing who cleaned up space junk and made money off of it. Wonder if eventually there will be something like that in the future.

Planetes is an Anime where the premis is literally cleaning space debris. We'll just do that .

My 8th grade science class talked about this very problem and came up with a solution: attach neodymium or some other strong magnet to a space craft and launch that spacecraft into space allowing the magnet to magnetize gather space debris. There would be a way to control the spacecraft so that it doesn’t ruin other satellites that are being used. There would also be an easy way to bring back the spacecraft so we could tackle our and replace the magnet.
It’s a vague solution but if explored and executed correctly, it might work.
