Marvel's Avengers Game Publisher GUTTED by Embracer Group Layoffs!

Embracer Group is GUTTING many of its video game studios. Marvel's Avengers and Tomb Raider publisher Crystal Dynamics is the latest to get chopped after they shut down Saints Row publisher Volition. Possibly up for sale is Borderlands developer Gearbox. Could Limited Run Games be next?

The Limited Run Games girl (Kara Lynne) now works with Eric July sole founder of The Rippaverse. She is so much happier now. Embracer Group is/was a huge pusher of DEI and wokism awhile back. But after losing money for a number of years, they have backed off a bit. That does not absolve them of the crime!

Square Enix for better or worse did the right thing in selling off selling those Western gaming studios. Now, they're Embracer's problems!

Another correction in the video game industry (like the game video crash of 1983) is long overdue.

They bought too much and didn't manage what they acquired properly. Letting people run wild with projects and I.P, so let this be a lesson to others going forward. But most likely no one will learn until they're bankrupt.

Embracer's business model *was* lots of smaller games, especially updates to older games that could then be sold indefinitely (which they are currently doing with Tomb Raider, re-releasing the first trilogy with a simple graphics upgrade). They seem to have over extended bad.

Don't feel bad for Beamdog though. They were always sub-mediocre: The EEs added new issues, failed to fix issues fans fixed in the original years ago, had awful new content, and (in the case of at least the NWNEE) failed to deliver on promised features despite years of updates. Their only "new" games were Siege of Dragonspear, which was infamous for being full of plot holes and forcing you to call a freakshow stunning and brave, and Mythforce, which just launched and failed hard.

40 years ago in North America something bad happened to gamers, console makers, and a majority of game publishers. This is a sign that it's going to repeat itself, but on a global level. I'm not saying it's the end of gaming heck it didn't totally die off back then, but it's going to be the same level of a blood bath for most of these publishers as it was back then.

CD is just another developer that had the soul sucked out of them by "AAA" publishers. Their older games may not have been mega blockbuster successes but they had heart and you could feel that the people working on them cared. With the Tomb Raider reboot though they just kind of went down the tired path of making games for "modern audiences". Which sucks because personally I consider Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld to be the best games in the series.

This is what happens when these AAA studios rely on heavy hitters and put too many eggs and one basket rather than releasing. Maybe one or two double A games in order to develop that AAA game to make all their money back and more

Marvel Avengers had potential but was hampered by shifting its focus to microtransactions and other freemium features.
Saint's Row had potential but was squandered by a focus on friendship, "modern" sensibilities, and an entirely unrelated new cast.

Gamers don't need dozens of Triple A games, Indie or cutting edge, they only need it be fun and reasonably priced.

Kneon Borderlands has been dead since the trash of BL3. It was a terrible way to at this point cap off the series. Plus the things that TakeTwo did to people and their fans at the time. I’m not surprised.

Embracer had a massive deal with some Saudis fall through at the last minute and since they had the deal in all their financial projections they are scrambling to balance the books by cutting a lot of stuff.
