I was 10 years old and a few weeks prior to this show I was with my mom clothes shopping at The Hecht Company. Bored out of my mind, I found a small display nearby with paper forms that could be filled out and stuffed in the box. I filled out a few of the forms with my name, phone number and address on it, not quite knowing why. A few days later the manager of the store called our house and asked for me. I got on the phone and to his surprise I'm quite sure he wasn't expecting to hear a 10 year old at the other end of the phone. He asked for one of my parents, and I called for my dad. The Hecht Co. manager informed my dad that I had WON the drawing for 2 free Elton John tickets at DAR Constitution Hall on 11/4/79. This was to be my first live music show of my life. My dad and I sat in the 5th row center floor, and I was completely blown away by the magic of Elton and the amazing percussion play of Ray Cooper (to this day my father remembers more about Ray than he does about Elton!). Thanks to some good luck and the amazing talent of Elton John, I've become addicted to live music and at the ripe old age of 53 continue my love affair with live music. Thanks for uploading such a memorable milestone of my life. What a show!

This is Elton's best solo tour, just him, the piano, and Ray Cooper's drums, and he plays them so fast and lively, love Candle in the Wind, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Bennie, and Saturday, hypes me up so much

I attended consecutive nights, November 4th and 5th at DAR Constitution Hall. Front row for both performances. I photographed both shows using Kodachrome and hope to have Getty Images license them from me soon. Following the first show, two friends and I waited outside the stage exit in the drizzle next to Elton's parked limousine. It was running with his driver and two-way radio communicating with security. Elton exits clutching a drawstring bag still wearing his stage attire. He greets us while sitting in the backseat with the door open and signs our albums in ball point pen. He signed my copy of "A Single Man" personally to me, thanked us for coming out to see the show and rolled off into the streets of D.C. Thanks for posting the show!

I was at this tour in Los Angeles. It was phenomenal. At the LA venue he also did Elton's Song, which I don't see on this playlist.

Sublime vocals; his tones resonate deeply in and around me. Feeling ready for take-off listening to this, Sir Elton.

He had such a voice when he was young. And he was very cute, too.

Not sure where to write this comment, so I’ll ask here: looking for a live recording of Elton performing First Episode at Hienton. Have one/Know of one, by chance? Thanks!
