In the book "the wrath of darth maul", their is a part were maul fights qui gon jin and he escapes so maul gets mad and his main goal was to kill qui gon because he showed that he wasnt able to kill him in taatoine to palpatine which made him think he would be punished for not killing qui gon so he used all his anger on qui gon

Yet mauls thoughts range from exhilaration to outright fear when qui gon begins driving him back. Maul is annoyed that qui gon can actually read him, his thoughts being “if an opponent can read you it’s over”

I love how Dooku's master and his apprentice are Ataru specialist, considered the masters of the form. Yet Dooku never displays anything but concept for Ataru and it's "Ridiculous acrobatics".

This also illustrates how you can have all the experience and power in world but ultimately the true power in combat as a Jedi is adaptability and patience. Obi is definitely not the most powerful in a technical sense but he is quick thinking and good at analyzing the people he fights. Jin definitely taught him some of the most important things that all Jedi needed to learn.

Although no mention is made of it at the point of the movie and book came out (of course because it was retconned much later), I'm sure Qui-Gon had made his peace with his training in the use of the Cosmic Force, so he was already probably like, "Meh, this guy's probably gonna kill me, but it's cool, I'll just come back as a Force manifestation."
