Duel Of Fates has to be the best Star Wars music to put in a fight scene. Qui Gon's death is so sad.

Maul is so methodical here…almost like a machine. He takes Qui-Gon down, then immediately hones in on his next target. No hesitancy whatsoever. Didn’t pause to catch his breath, or celebrate his victory. Just moved right along to his next objective. Creepy.

Qui Gons last words: “He is the chosen one. He will bring balance”
Mauls last words: “Is he the chosen one? He will avenge us”

I really like Maul's portrayal in the movie. He doesn't waste time speaking or idling, ever. It's like he is an animal, a predator, fully fixated on the kill.

When you realize this is one of the most important fights in all of Star wars. If Qui Gon Survived he would train Anakin, helped him deal with his emotions with his less dogmatic teachings. If Qui Gon had lived Anakin may have created balance long before he eventually did with less death and destruction in between

Truly was a Dual of the fates, the fate of Anakin Skywalker

I am deeply moved by how Obi-Wan’s last words to Qui-Gon were, “Yes, Master.”

Even in his final living moment, he was still Obi-Wan’s teacher.

When Liam Neeson read the script he said: "Damn, Qui gone!"

that moment when ur master who you’ve known and bonded with for like 12 years final words in your arms is about a kid they’ve not even known a week.

Watching this after tales of the Jedi makes me feel even sadder. Qui gon was such an important Jedi, one who was greatly needed.

I cant imagine how hard it must have been for Obi wan. That was basically his father who died, in his arms, and instead of some kind and loving words about how Kenobi had been a good padawan or something all he gets is "promise me you'll train the boy", the boy who Qui gon had wanted to replace Obi wan with when Kenovi was still Jinns padawan. And still Kenobi does train the boy, takes care of him and loves him. Imo Kenobi had the worst life of all

If only Qui-Gon had the torso of a youngling.. he would’ve survived that stab.

I love that 30 years later, Maul and Obi Wan have their final duel. Using his Masters stance in order to defeat him once and for all.

When we were kids, my friends and I would recreate this battle frame by frame. We would rewind so many times, not only to get the fighting down, but because we just got immersed watching the movie.
Say what you want about the prequels, but damn the fighting was something else.

He didn't think Obi Wan had the skill or the bravery to make that move. Because he underestimated Obi Wan he didn't see the move coming. Maul was so stunned by it that he didn't swing.

Qui Gon: Promise me you'll train the boy.
Obi Wan: NO

I love the moment around 0:35 that Qui-Gon gives Maul a look of what seems to be confusion or concern. He seems to realize he could very well lose here, that Maul is countering and blocking every attack and is seemingly unbeatable.

In this scene, one can only appreciate what a fast learner Obi-wan is. He saw the momentary mistake, stemming from never having approached a dualblade lightsaber, that resulted in his MASTER's death and when Maul tries to do the same against him, he already has an extremely effective counter-attack (hitting the hilt) prepared against it, despite never having fought against this sort of weapon.

Its sad cause no one wanted to choose obiwan as an apprentice cause he was not that strong with the force and was going to work as an agricultural force user but quigon took him in believing in him and that definitely took a toll on obiwan as the one person who believed in him dying in front of him

In my opinion, Obi-Wan is the best Jedi of all
