A tale of friendship, betrayal and an extraordinary EVE Online Scam...

Have you ever thought someone was a friend, only to find out they've been lying to you the whole time? EVE Online is well known for the scams carried out by players in-game, but one unfortunate EVE Online user 'Tikktokk' fell victim to a much more personal scam. He faced not only the loss of a friendship, but the loss of his prized 120B ISK Chremoas that had over 400 kill marks

EVE ONLINE is just one of those games that I love hearing stories but just can't get myself to play it.

never knew EVE was so unique. that "losing your ship forever" mechanic is pretty cool.

Gotta say that this series is amazing and wonderful to see Steven back to tell one of the most heartbreaking gaming stories in recent history!

Eve brings out your true self. If you're capable of doing this in-game you would do it irl.

I did not see that ending coming. The power of friendship is real folks!

I spent 2 years "undercover" taking over a decently large corp in EvE that we drained and killed, it was fantastic living an actual sleeper agent spy movie during that time xD

As someone just starting to play the game myself.. I am glad that he got the ship back, but good lord have mercy. It could have gone the other way and this person could have simply disappeared with the ship. Never to be heard from again. .

Jesus, what a story. It had personal growth, redemption arcs, three acts, it played out like a hollywood romcom. Given everything I know about EVE, I was not remotely expecting it to end that way. I don't think I could ever enjoy playing in an environment like EVE's (will stick to X for now I reckon) but gods, it is an impressive creative engine.

I would never give someone, anyone in EVE a unique asset like that or in real life for that matter. Its not sad, its just one of life's most important truths.

I need a new *proper* Dungeon Keeper with this narrator as voice actor.

EVE is interesting. Some friends and I started an alliance by, literally, telling another corp to "join us or die" then was going to take everyone to nulsec but decided couldn't bring ourselves to steal all their stuff. So we ended up being the third largest alliance in the game for a while and exploded in glorious battle like a good EVE pilot should.

You could make a whole series just about EVE Online.

#1 rule in EVE Online, "Don't fly what you can't afford to loose" I would not have given him any Isk. You get what you earn in Eve.. "THAT IS EVE"

To put it into perspective, that's effectively a $2000 USD ship (as of December 2023).

There is an easy way to deal with this, put a bounty on the thief, track him down and unalive him every time he gets online.
