Edvard Hagerup Grieg (1843 - 1907) was a Norwegian composer and pianist. He is best known for his Piano Concerto in A minor, for his incidental music to Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt (which includes Morning Mood, In the Hall of the Mountain King), and Solveig's Song.

Grieg is renowned as Norway's nationalist composer, drawing inspirations from Norwegian folk music. His many short pieces for piano -- often based on Norwegian folk tunes and dances -- led some to call him the "Chopin of the North".

Images were from pictures I took when my wife and I cruised the Norwegian Fjords, spring of last year. . Highlight of the cruise was a visit to Edvard Grieg's home in Bergen..

Soprano Kari Lövaas, with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.

Thank you for your kind words. It's one of my favorite Grieg compositions. It was a misty morning when we entered the first fjord in our itinerary, it was surreal !! I could hear this song as we sailed deeper into the fiord.
