This short video was surprisingly more helpful than binge watching self help videos for hours.

I quit smoking, drugs, recovered from being homeless and found my dream job without the proper education or degree.

2:37 I have _never_ understood that. I've only ever bought stuff because I need it or specifically want it, and my complete lack of interest for anything that doesn't have a specific purpose makes me notoriously difficult to birthday shop for.
It also, unfortunately, makes it extremely difficult for me to birthday shop for others. My inability to understand the interest in non-practical things and trinkets causes me to just stall out unless I'm told something specific. This is a very annoying problem in a nine person family...

3:35 I don't buy things just bc other ppl do or just bc of commercials. Actually I'm the opposite. When I think about spending money, I gt scared, nervous & start feeling fear, bc once it's gone, then it's gone. My 12 yr son had his own money & he bought 4 boxes of different kinds of soda for $10. (they were on sale) He was soooo excited that he saved about $5 bc they were on sale. I told him "you would've saved $10 by not spending ANY MONEY. By not buying them at all, you would've saved $10. That's how I think anyway. When stores put up a sale from them wanting u to" save more when u buy more ". That's not true. If they say" buy 3, save "5", "buy 5 save $10" or something like that & they cost $5 each... & u buy 5 to "save THE SMARTER WAY IS TO NOT BUY ANY AT & u not only save "10, but u SAVE $25 BY NOT SPENDING AT That's what I tried to teach my son, but I don't think he was getting it.
That's just how I think anyway. I just really don't like spending money, even on groceries or personal things. Rent doesn't bother me that much. I don't mind spending money on rent. But right now I have to go grocery shopping & I'm getting a little nervous thinking about it bc I need a lot for my 3 kids & I don't have help from a man or anything. But I still have to go. Just something to think about.

Visualising who I want to be really motivates me. I think it's also important to have a role model to aspire to.

Distractions: Get yourself an exercise machine (eg. Treadmill or dog!) and watch television and videos while exercising. Distracts you from temptations caused by boredom (eg. Snacking), and, afterwards, you’ll still be “distracted” with a shower and nap (or playing with the dog!).

Forgive Yourself: Always move forward! Treat everyday as the first day. Also, measure leading indicators, not lagging!

10:13 : Great quote! Mistakes as motivators? Would like a video about that!
