It's said that after battles, the Huns would pile up the bodies of their enemies as a gruesome spectacle to inspire fear. They also didn't return the bodies of enemy nobles, further stoking fear and dread in their adversaries. In 452 AD, Attila invaded Italy but unexpectedly negotiated peace and withdrew. This decision came after a meeting with Pope Leo I, whose influence on Attila is still a matter of historical debate.

Physically people haven't changed that much in size, a couple inches shorter and a few pounds lighter, Roman soldiers were carrying kits as big as the avg WW2 soliders. Professional soliders of any era are to be respected.

Rome was facing a terribile plague caused by malaria, and the historians have theorized that pope Leo I could've simply told the truth to Atila, suggesting to him to leave.

The reason why Attila left Italy after meeting with the Pope is that he got his monetary Ransom from the Romans and he feared his soldiers were coming down with Malaria from the surrounding mosquitos and swamps.
I heard a very interesting thing. In Hungary, where many of the Huns settled, the favored first name for Boys is “Attila ”.

After meeting the Pope, not only he abandoned the invasion but he returned to his homeland and married a girl and on the wedding eve mysteriously died before even touching the girl.
