My parents were huge Kennedy fans and had this album, and we listened to it and laughed at it over and over many times. All in good fun, not in meanness at all . Then after that terrible day in 1963 in Dallas my mother put it forever away, it was horrifying to even look at the cover, to think we had once joked about them. I was only 10 but I remember that day as clear as yesterday. My parents cried. It's hard to believe we were ever that innocent.

I listened to this endlessly when I was 11/12. Still hilariously funny! THANK you for posting. And thank you to Bob Booker, who wrote this. Passed away at 92, July 24, 2024.

I haven’t heard this since 8th grade. After JFK was assassinated it wasn’t funny anymore. But now after the passing of time it’s both funny and nostalgic.

I was 6 years old when President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, I remember my father and mother cried, my parents played this record on the old record player. Thank God it's on you tube.

SOOOO great to hear this again. After the assassination, my first thought (as a 7th grader) was, "What's going to happen to The First Family album?". Time heals. Listening to it now leaves me feeling some of the elation of that great time.

The First Family became the fastest-selling record in the history of the United States. It sold 1.2 million copies during the first two weeks of its release, and ultimately sold 7.5 million copies.

My brother and I memorized this entire album as kids, and to this day we chuckle over these skits.
Thanks a lot for posting! I haven't heard it in decades.

Norma MacMillan, who voices Caroline also played the voices of Casper the Friendly Ghost, Gumby, and Davey from Davey and Goliath. Her daughter is Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson in Little House on the Prairie.

My parents played this album periodically throughout our childhood.  Enjoyed it then; relish the memories now.  My Father's natural humour was on par to this production.  Simply wonderful.

Whoever came up with the comedy routine for the part of the White House tour with Mrs. Kennedy is absolute genius. Very cleverly written and quite amusing at several points.

I also bought this album when it was first released, and I still have it to this day!

Funny - I was just telling one of my co-workers about this great comedy album just a week ago. Happy to see it available here! A true classic.

We had this album! We'd listen to it when we were kids! Years later when my parents retired, they joined this writers club at Eckerd college, and Vaughn was also a member! We've had that album since the early 60's ! Years later in the 90's we meet Vaughn and became good friends with him!

John F. Kennedy and Vaughn Meader both signed The First Family album back in 1963. However, it wasn't easy. I'm from Maine and Vaughn was in Waterville when Dad met him. Vaughn signed it first. Getting Kennedy to sign it wasn't so easy but it was arranged thanks to the Boston Police. Still have it in my collection and I will treasure it forever

My father loved this album. Of course he listen to it while President Kennedy, was alive. But afterwards he was so saddened by his assisnation, he put it away. Over the years the album was lost. But I found it here on you tube. I remember my dad listening to this album when I was a kid. He laughed his head off. Knee slapping, unbelievable!

Yes! So excited to find this! My parents, now being in their mid 70s, used to play this record when I was a child in the 1980s. It was always a Christmas treat!
