Southeast Turkey solo travel: Bazaar, shopping, artists, raki, and dilemmas in Mardin

Two years ago in the middle of the pandemic, I traveled across southeast Turkey, visiting places like Adana, Gaziantep, Mardin, Urfa, and other less touristy towns & cities. I stayed in Mardin for a couple of days, roaming around the deserted streets and talking to locals about their daily life and work.

In this episode, I go shopping at a typical Turkish supermarket, I wonder around the narrow stony streets, walk through the Bazaar, visit local artists and artisans, drink raki with the hotel owner and find myself in a dilemma if I should travel to Iraq for the weekend lockdown.
