Southeast Turkey: First impressions of Mardin

Показать описание
Two years ago (in 2020) during the pandemic, curfew, and weekend lockdowns I traveled through southeast Turkey and stayed a couple of days in the beautiful historic town on the edge of Mesopotamia - Mardin.
I took the public bus from Sanliurfa to enjoy the vast landscapes and arrived with a bit of delay, but I still feel like buses are the best means of transport in this part of Turkey.
I booked a room in a boutique hotel that seemed to be open just for me and discovered the lovely town on foot. Most of the things were closed due to lockdown and there weren`t many tourists but I really enjoyed my stay. The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming!
I was there in December so the town was decorated with beautiful lights and the weather was getting quite cold. Here`s a little walk through this ancient city.
