Ricoh's GR cameras are legendary pocket sized cameras. The new Ricoh GR IIIx takes the classic GR body design and adds a new 40mm equivalent lens. Is this Dave's new pocket camera of choice?

It’s a class camera, how they get so many features into just a tiny camera is amazing.

Loved walking around with my lumix G5 with 20mm pancake. This is tempting

I got the GR IIIX few weeks ago and really loving this small size camera and I carry Sony ZV1 for my video related which makes these two a great combo for light and compact size carrying. Thanks for the great review.

I love this camera. My previous favorite setup was the Lumix GF-1 and the 20mm. Now I can get better image quality and it fits easier into my pocket. I've gotten so many keepers that the investment was well worth it!

I really enjoy the GR series of cameras. Own the GR analog and the first digital of the GR, now waiting for shipment of my GRIII from TCS. Of the GRIIIs, I prefer the 28mm equivalent over the 39mm equivalent. Personal choice.

Hi man, another good video. However one constructive comment is that sometimes you absolutely race through what you want to say, and it actually stresses me out when I’m watching the video! Perhaps just take a breath and pace your pieces to camera a little more. Hope you don’t mind the feedback, and thanks again for the video

Sigma has done this since 2008 with their dp1 and dp2 cameras. Later they had 4 cameras dp0 to dp3 which where 21, 28, 45 and 75mm. It is so nice to swap fast between the cameras to take photos compared to swapping primes all the time. Good to see that Ricoh also does this now. The 40mm is interesting, my wife has the GR III, but I think she finds it too wide. So having a GR III and a IIIx would be nice

Just picked up my GR3x today. Anxious to get out and get some shots. Only thing I wish Ricoh would have paid a bit more time and attention to is the wireless file sharing especially with the Mac OS. And that they'd be a bit faster with releasing updates for the Mac os

I found the background blur in the opening scene quite unpleasant to the point of nauseating. Any one else see that? What happened there?

Nice review. If my Fujifilm X70 ever craps out this line will be its replacement. What I really wish is that Fuji would release an updated X70 however...sigh.

Did they fix the dust issues? The earlier versions are known for getting dust on the sensor. And why not make it weather sealed? It's still missing usb charging, tiltable screen and a decent manual focus. The lens is great though in the center. The edges could improve. The flexibility would tilt me towards the Canon G1X III. Or if size matters, the RX100 V-a although the latter has a smaller sensor it still takes great photos.

BTW, ignore those who say you talk too fast. I find your vocal speed perfect as I typically speed up other YouTubers because they speak too slowly!

Is there still issue w heat from battery compartment. I had gr3 and shooting a great number of shots in short period of time caused camera to heat up and shut down

I have been a fan of compact cameras for over 40 years. And this one seems really nice. And I do like 40mm lenses.
Only thing for me is that I've gotten really used to modern zoom lenses. I really like to be able go from a wideangle to a a real tele in a split second, and I use the whole range. So I don't know if I'll ever again buy a fixed-lens camera. (I owned the original Fuji X100, but I found the fixed lens restrictive.)

Hi, I need some advice for a "definitive" family camera that brings out images with a certain three-dimensionality focused more on portraits of my fast-moving children. I currently have a Nikon z50 16-50 and 50-250 (I am only displeased with the small limited af area in Af-c and the lack of a 70-300 for football matches) and sometimes it hurts me to take my bag with me in contexts to go out with my family and to the sea. I need a compact camera that can be attached to a belt loop or that fits into a large pocket! I am undecided between the gr III x or fujifilm x100v or leica d-lux 7 I am looking for the most creative and fun camera that will entice me to take it with me regardless, thanks.

Got one on pre-order... Sold my XF10 to fund the purchase.
In anticipation, I have bought a spare battery, a screen protector (anti-reflective) and a JJC thumb rest for it.
