Never tell Borat jokes in Kazakhstan because Kazakhs don't find them funny. By the way the movie Borat was not filmed in Kazakhstan, but rather a small gypsy village in Romania. There wasn't a single Kazakh person in the movie, not a word of Kazakh was spoken and actor Sacha Baron Cohen was actually speaking Hebrew half the time. In the sequel Sacha Baron Cohen was once again speaking Hebrew while his co star Maria Bakalova was speaking Bulgarian. Now you know the truth.

The Borat thing is unfortunate. I'm a US citizen though I've lived much of my life in other countries. Being American can be similarly irritating as people have all sorts of ignorant stereotypes. Anyway I've always wanted to visit Kazakhstan for various things, I'm interested in the history of the silk road, love mountains and nature, etc. Hopefully I'll make it there one day.
