I use a kvd dream shot but I put it in a #1 ewg with a 32oz slip sinker not pegged. The last 3 years I’ve caught over100 large mouth like this.Love your Chanel

Thanks for the info! One thing that might help to see your rigging the z drop would be a piece of cardboard painted white an use as a backdrop.

Hey Randy, Ive been fishing clear lakes on the west coast for over 40 years. This time of year, in So. Cal, I fish 3” reapers on a split shot for those suspended Bass. 10# braid with a 7’ leader of 5 lb fluorocarbon and as small split shot as you need to get to the fish. Us old guys out here still fish this rig a bunch, but don’t talk about it. The only thing that has changed is the 6lb mono .

Looks a lot like the Jackall Cross Tail Shad. The Cross Tail is the bait Kota Kiriyama fished in the 2000 Classic and introduced the world to the drop shot rig. Locally he was winning club tournaments in NJ with that thing as early as 1994!

I’m all about Zoom baits! The Meathead is a good drop shot bait too. When people scoff at Zoom I tell them they need to look past the Walmart selection and look into the huge style of baits they actually make. Zooms color selection speaks for itself as well with great options.

Zoom baits are affordable and a good choice when on a limited income . Best bait for the money. They are flat out my most productive bait. Great video Randy.

Randy, I don't want to give away too many of my secrets, but I've been watching you since you teamed up with Johnny. I've been fishing ponds lately and I take a robo worm and rig them on a ned head like a shaky head, and shin hook them on the side, just like you described on your shakyhead video...

And I have been slap wearing them out man.. and I always sink that hook skin hooking the side. I've caught squeekers to 3lbers... thank you for the knowledge.

Did really good with the zoom Z drop last year in October. Both that worm and the KVD dream shot

I still have a hand full of the zoom swamp crawler. Not sure if zoom still makes them, but they've always worked great for me on the drop shot.

I love using dropshot baits on the back of finesse jigs and keep the moving up and down through the water column. It’s like using a swim jig but more finesse and also they hit on the fall a lot more often.

Randy, great video! can you do a drop shot video showing what type of knot you use for your dropshot? I’m still experimenting with a few knots and some have failed me and cost me some fish

Good morning Randy, Of all the YouTube’s out there, yours are the best. I fish NH, Maine, CT and PA. Heading to NH early October. Squam Lake and Lake Winnipesaukee will be my go to Lake. Do you have any info on Lake Winnipesaukee?

I found that rigging the bait in the weedless style that Randy showed keeps the tail of the bait sticking out better than the traditional method through the nose. The bait can easily slide tail down the old way. I'll have to try that Zoom worm....the GYB Shad Shape Worm has always been my #1.
