Why F1 has delayed releasing its 2021 rules overhaul

Formula 1's bosses were hoping to have the details of its planned major changes for 2021 finalised by the end of this month, but after frantic discussions failed to produce an agreement between the teams and the other major stakeholders, a delay until October was agreed. Ben Anderson and Stuart Codling join Glenn Freeman to explain what has caused the delay, as well as looking at if this is an impossible task, and if the likely outcome will be a watered-down set of changes for 2021

Mercedes hasn't decided the 2021 regulations yet..

I don’t get why we are so attached to factory teams. It was so much better when manufacturers would try and make a winning engine to go in a iconic team and car like Williams Renault in the 90s

Why the delay? (Not a serious version)
*Mercedes* we need a set of rules to make us dominant forever, otherwise we're leaving F1
*Ferrari* we have to get back to the pinnacle of the standings, and that includes destroying Mercedes like FIA did to us in 2005
*Renault* we just want to get consistent podiums and occasionally, wins
*Honda* we need the next rules to make us reliable & powerful at the same time
*Williams* just give us some money already
*McLaren* we need budget cap so we're all on a level playing field, sort of
*Other Manufacturers & Fans* Make F1 Great Again

I'd happily give up the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault if it meant the sport was alot more competitive.

I'm just hoping that they'll make the cars smaller (though I fear they will do the opposite). As of now the cars are as big as an S-Class

V10 turbo hybrid running on syntethic fuel producing 1000 HP...

No question asked... Just my opinion

the teams should not have a say in the rules.
they should be given the rules and thats that

sooner than later your average clio will be a featherweight next to a f1

Please no artificial tyre degradation. They can make long lasting tyres without compensating for grip, but they decided not for all these years.

F1: “2021 rules are as follows”

1) 5 second penalty for anyone leading Mercedes.

That is all”.

I just would like to see an F1 where drivers are not afraid of consuming 100ml of fuel per lap less so they don't run out of fuel. I would like to see them not afraid of attempting overtakes over and over. In any kind of sport nobody says *"Could you please kick the ball with a little bit less force or could you run slower because you're wearing the shoes?"*. This is madness, old F1 was more entartaing because even if they risked their death, drivers were not afraid to race damnit!!

Mercedes still busy formulating the regulations.

The past five years have proven relative rule stability hasn't done jack shit to close up performance gaps.

I don't think the teams should get a say, they should be able to advise the FIA but nothing more. If changes needs to happen they should happen.

New wec rules... I'd love to see Williams leave f1 and develop a prototype, perhaps red bull with AMR and even Ferrari with their la Ferrari or something? F1 'dying' for years now and wec looks really exciting.
Simplistic view I know but it is this realistically possible?

The manufacturer teams will have more leverage to influence F1 right up until the point F1 ceases to exist. The cost cap in my opinion is the right move, then just allow more freedom in the rules.

Personally it wouldn't bother me if the larger teams throwing their weight around left F1. It would mean changes could be made which can favour new teams to come in and increase the grid size. If it stayed popular the big teams would come crawling back.

second turbo, run the hybrid system to the front wheels, lower min weight, and let them use the floor of the car for more aero...shit i've give them the blown diffusers back too. An F1 car should be the fastest thing on 4 wheels around a track.

That is literally all i care about.
