I love the bombshell she drops on him about the dead Aunt and then just blitzes past it. I think we can all relate to something you heard mentioned in passing as a kid that blew your mind but the people telling it are just casually "no big thing".

Oof can’t imagine the legal trouble if any of them wants a divorce or file taxes

My grandad and grandma technically wasn't married. She was born in Thailand because her dad was with the Danish East Asian company and they weren't sure they got her birth certificate when they got married as they couldn't read Thai. True enough, it was her bicycle drivers permit from school. 😂

I love the way mum's do this, they drop the biggest family fact and are like "oh you didn't know??"

This is the same casual tone my mum sed when telling me that my grreat-grandad had been eaten by dingos (after he was dead). She was more concerned that she couldn't remember exactly what town he was traveling to, and I was like "Um....What?"

My father was born in 1956. When we moved to the states and got the visa they made an error on his forms that said he was born in 1856. This was looked at as 'not a problem' so for a year my dad was well over 150 years old according to the US gov 🤷‍♂️

Sounds like convoluted stuff my Mom n Dad did to cover up my Sister being born out of wedlock. They claimed it was 1954 only the wedding cert said 1955. So they claimed the 1954 officiant wasn't licensed so they remarried in 1955.

I love these shenanigans cause it makes you think how frequent were those in more ancient times and how much did they really care about it all xD

You can tell he got his sense of humour from his mother, she had the tale worked out already and was enjoying his reaction.

my job has me talking to old people all day long. One lovely grandma told me that she was born three days before her official birthday. She was born in Belgium, where you have two days to register the birth of your kid and if you don't in this time you'll get fined. Her dad got very drunk celebrating her birth and failed to go to the office in time to register her, so he and two witnesses (she was born at home) had to lie about the day she was born to avoid the fine!

His mom is someone I'd love to listen to. 0 tangents, long, but straight to the point

Ironically, my grandpa has a dead sister who died at 2 who I didn’t know about until very recently, while my great grandma was telling a story, it’s like you literally just told my great grandmas story to me lol

i like how the mom is so proud that she's "the first lesbian to get married in Ireland" just because of a technicality, that cracks me up
