Spongy and ineffective brakes aren’t something you want on a bike, as the odds of them stopping you in time range from slim to none.

Knowing how to bleed your brakes will save you money and allow you to keep your bike stopping effectively.

I've thought this operation is too difficult for me. and I avoided disc brakes, even MTB itself.
but now, after watching this video, I think I can do this by myself. Thank you for great information, BikeRader and Youtube!

If you follow the video you've just pushed in a bunch of air into your system because you didn't remove the air inside your syringe first before attaching it to the bleed nipple. You'll also need to rotate the lever to get the remaining air bubbles out.

That was a ton of air in the hose of the syringe after you hooked it up to the caliper and opened the bleed port. I think you should have shown how to get rid of all of the air in the syringe hose prior to ever installing it of the bleed nipple.

Now the bike is dead due to air embolism. Stopped watching when I saw him started injecting while still too much air in the hose.

What’s with leaving air in the syringe. Just failed brake bleeding 101 and he’s making a video. I don’t believe it

Easy Peasy. But you forgot to mention about putting the bolt back in to reattach the calliper.

That process is quite a bit different from the process I use for Shimano. I know he is trying to show in general, but that syringe looked full of air. Then once you push fluid through from bottom you need to release fluid and check for bubbles. You add fluid to the pot when you do the latter.

"Push out as much air as possible."

Proceeds to attach tube full of air to hydrolic system.

Hi. Have seen several of most popular "how to" tutorials on YT and some use bleed block while some don't. What is the difference (if any) and what is better? Thx

The front break levier in my bike is at around 50%, meaning when you press it it won't do anything, but once at 50% press, you feel the pressure and the breaks stops suddenly.
Will bleeding the system fix the problem?

Worst brake bleed ever!
WTH did all that air in the line go, never explained where?

It's been a long time since I bled brakes. My last set was a pair of Saint brakes on both my DH and XC bikes. I never needed a specific Shinano do-dad at the top end (where the reservoir and master cylinder are). Is that cup essential or is there a DIY alternative? I fear I'm more old school than I realize

How much mineral fluid do you need to suck with the syringe to successfully bleed the brakes.
