Umar (Ra) is reported to have later regretted over his decision of dismissing Khalid from army, accepting the fact that he (Khalid) was not like as he (Umar) thought of him. Khalid was urged by many of his companions to retaliate against Umar (Ra) for this. Khalid (Ra) did not, although he was powerful enough to launch a coup d'état against Umar and in effect seize the power of the Rashidun Empire. He instead chose to stay away from politics and died four years later in 642 in Emesa. Caliph Umar (Ra) was said to have felt embarrassed for his conduct against Khalid and was reported to have said at his death that "he would have appointed Khalid as his successor if he was still alive."

He said that quote during the battle of yarmouk which was the battle that reshape the Middle East and the world. even though Khalid army was literally outnumbered by the Romans he literally said that to the general of the enemy before the battle and he crushed them in a six days. He never lost a single battle even against the Muslims which was The reason why he was being given the title of the most finest general in the history of the world by most historians.

on every person is always based on his obedience or disobedience to Allah and The Messenger (SAWA). Khalid bin Al-Waleed spent most of his life fighting against Islam and the Prophet (SAWA) since he was in Makkah till he surrendered to Muslims. Khalid bin Al-Waleed fought against Islam in the battle of Badr and was captured by Muslims ( according to the famous Sunni historian Al-Waaqidi). He fought against Islam in the battle of Uhud and caused a disaster for Muslims. Even after he was forced to surrender to Muslims, he committed crimes which made the Prophet openly dis-associate himself from the acts of Khalid. (Saheeh Al-Bukhari; 7189).
