Nice review! Subary has lots of chunky looking plastic body cladding which isn't appealing, but understandable. Nice inside, yet I prefer manual HVAC buttons. CVT with paddles is lame. All said, it would still be on my top 10 list of next car to get.

'23 Limited 2.5 in my garage. 17k miles already, have really enjoyed road trips in it! Sunroof squeaks, which drives me nuts, but otherwise I'm very happy with it.

We own both an Outback XT Touring and a Santa Fe Limited. Both are great, but Hyundais beep at you less.

Interested why you didnt also mention the Forrester as an alternative?

Its basically the same car (without the turbo option ) but with slightly higher seating and shorter trunk and nose. I honestly would pick up the Forrester if it had a turbo.

These are so popular, I don’t know why other brands don’t get on the bandWAGON. For example, the Toyota Crown could have been a wagon. The previous Honda Crosstour too.

Rented one of these and drove from San Diego to Yosemite late November, drove thru hail and on icy windy roads, worked well. My only qualm it felt a little smaller for a bigger guy, like he said, more wagon type shape/size but prob drives a bit better because of that, especially on mountainous winding roads

Can’t wait for the 2025 Outback! We are on our 2nd Outback 2022 ! Assuming pana moonroof. Full Digital display? Can’t wait. Will def get it when it comes out. Tbh the cVT here is fine especially on the turbo.

Less oomph, but naturally aspirated engines are more reliable than turbocharged engines.

I am glad they didn't put piano black plastic everywhere. It makes the cabin more durable and attractive for long-term ownership. Piano black plastic is awful because it scratches and collects dust so easily. I like how they kept it at a minimum here

I like the Outback, but I would not classify it as an SUV. It's a lifted station wagon with off road cladding.
